  1. 6. Photosynthetic water oxidation : the function of two extrinsic proteins

    Author : Tatiana Shutova; Göran Samuelsson; Stenbjörn Styring; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photosystem II; Psb0; Cah3; water oxidation; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : The solar energy accumulated by photosynthesis over billions of years is the sole source of energy available on Earth. Photosystem II (PSII) uses the sunlight to split water, an energetically unfavorable reaction where electrons and protons are extracted from water and oxygen is released as a by-product. READ MORE

  2. 7. CO Oxidation over Oxide Supported Platinum Catalysts

    Author : Mengqiao Di; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low-temperature activity; CO oxidation; operando spectroscopy; water promotion; active catalyst support; nitrogen oxide inhibition;

    Abstract : Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) is one of the most studied reactions that still needs to be improved because of its practical use in the chemical industry including feedstock purification and applications such as emission control, in-door air cleaning, improvement of fuel cell efficiency, etc. Concerning CO emissions, the transportation sector is a large contributor. 3. 8. Vehicle emissions abatement: NO oxidation and ammonia SCR

    Author : Xavier Auvray; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SpaciMS; NO oxidation; Cu-Beta zeolite; sulfur dioxide; Platinum; ammonia SCR; aging;

    Abstract : The design and the development of catalytic systems for reducing vehicle emissions is a complex task due to the variety of components in a wide range of gas flow and temperature. A complete system is, therefore, composed of a series of catalysts or catalytic systems, each of which is dealing with a particular aspect of the abatement process. READ MORE

  4. 9. Spectroscopic characterisation of surface hydroxyls during catalytic methane oxidation

    Author : Peter Velin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; XAS; Water inhibition; Supported palladium; Sustainable transports; Methane oxidation; Operando spectroscopy; DRIFTS; Environmental catalysis;

    Abstract : Implementation of methane rich fuels as to develop sustainable vehicle transports requires improved catalytic exhaust aftertreatment technologies to convert engine-out methane emissions to carbon dioxide and water by total oxidation. A main challenge is that water formed during combustion inhibits the methane oxidation reaction even over the most active palladium-based catalysts presently known. READ MORE

  5. 10. Spectroscopic investigation of palladium catalysts during wet methane oxidation

    Author : Peter Velin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Methane oxidation; Water inhibition; XAS; DRIFTS; Supported palladium; Environmental catalysis; Operando spectroscopy; Sustainable transports;

    Abstract : Abatement of the strong greenhouse gas methane in vehicle applications by use of catalytic end-of-pipe technologies is challenging due to the prevailing reaction conditions with low temperatures and high water content. In this thesis, the mechanisms behind low-temperature water inhibition of lean methane oxidation over palladium-based catalysts have been studied using an integrated experimental approach including wet-chemical preparation of model catalysts with systematic variation of key performance parameters, transient measurements of reaction kinetics in chemical flow reactor, and operando infrared and X-ray absorption spectroscopic characterisation.
