  1. 6. Memory Effects on Iron Oxide Filled Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Carlos Cava; Clas Persson; Lucimara Roman; Krister Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Memory devices; Carbon Nanotubes; energy; nanotechnology; Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : In this Licentiate Thesis, the properties and effects of iron and iron oxide filled carbon nanotube (Fe-CNT) memories are investigated using experimental characterization and quantum physical theoretical models. Memory devices based on the simple assembly of Fe-CNTs between two metallic contacts are presented as a possible application involving the resistive switching phenomena of this material. READ MORE

  2. 7. Everything is imperfect: Studies on point defects in insulators

    Author : Christopher Linderälv; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boron nitride; band alignment; oxygen vacancies; insulator; optical lineshape; point defects; density functional theory; wide band gap oxides;

    Abstract : Point defects can be detrimental or absolutely necessary for the performance of a material. Due to the implications defects have on a material, defects have been widely studied over the last century. READ MORE

  3. 8. Point defects and ion conduction in solid oxides: a first-principles case study of La2Zr2O7

    Author : Joakim Nyman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton; self compensation; hydrogen economy; DFT; La2Zr2O7; acceptor doping; lanthanum zirconate; oxygen vacancy; SOFC; pyrochlore; point defect; trapping; computational methods; solid oxide; charge compensation; first principles; ion conduction; solid oxide fuel cell; ceramic electrolyte; defect cluster; fuel cell; hydrogen;

    Abstract : In the endeavor to attain a clean environment and sustainable energy consumption, the notion of a future hydrogen economy stands out as one of the grandest visions. Striving for this vision, a critical task lies in optimizing the performance of the fuel-cell devices responsible for extracting electric power from the energy stored in hydrogen molecules. 4. 9. ELECTRON BEAM MELTING OF ALLOY 718 - POWDER RECYCLING AND ITS EFFECT ON DEFECT FORMATION

    Author : Hans Gruber; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; powder recycling; electron beam melting; oxide defects; Alloy 718; defect formation; powder degradation; additive manufacturing; non-metallic inclusions;

    Abstract : As for any production process, the performance of additively manufactured components is ultimately dependent on the quality of the feedstock material. Consequently, for critical components, the feedstock needs to be carefully controlled to assure a stable and reliable quality. READ MORE

  5. 10. Lattice dynamics in perovskites for green energy applications: A theoretical perspective

    Author : Petter Rosander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; density func- tional theory; perovskites; defects; lattice dynamics; thermodynamic modelling; force constants; oxides;

    Abstract : Electrolyzers and fuel cells are used in green energy applications, electrolyzers split water to produce hydrogen, which can then be used in fuel cells to produce energy. Oxide perovskites have shown favorable properties for applications in this area, e.g., as electrolyte and cathode material in fuel cells and electrolyzers. READ MORE
