  1. 6. Thermodynamic description of the Fe-C-Cr-Mn-Ni-O system

    Author : Lina Kjellqvist; Malin Selleby; Bengt Hallstedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic assessment; Calphad; phase diagram; spinel; compound energy formalism; ionic two-sublattice liquid model; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The Fe-C-Cr-Mn-Ni-O system is of fundamental importance when describing the influence of oxygen on high alloyed steels. Both solid and liquid phases are of great interest: The solid phases regarding oxidation processes like the formation of oxide layers, inner oxidation, sintering processes and high temperature corrosion. 2. 7. Alloys in Contact with Molten Salts for Thermal Storage Applications

    Author : Esraa Hamdy Mohamedin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase transition; Molten salts; High-temperature corrosion; Alumina-forming alloys; Carburisation; Thermal energy storage TES ; Laves phase; Concentrated solar power CSP ;

    Abstract : The combination of a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant and a thermal energy storage (TES) system is a promising technology for power generation, in that it overcomes the challenges commonly faced by renewable energy systems, such as intermittency, dispatchability, and the gap between the energy supply and energy demand. The third generation (Gen3) CSP plants are designed to increase plant efficiency by using supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) instead of steam for the Brayton cycle gas turbines, requiring a minimum operating temperature of 750°C for the TES materials. 3. 8. Interactions between iron oxides and the additives quartzite, calcite and olivine in magnetite-based pellets

    Author : Pär Semberg; Lawrence Hooey; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : In the present study, magnetite pellets with large amounts of the additives olivine, calcite and quartzite were isothermally reduced in a tubular furnace to study the interaction between iron oxides and the additives. A first attempt at using exaggerated amounts of additives was made in order to enable analyses of phases that do not otherwise occur in sufficient amounts for Xray diffraction and EDS-analyses. 4. 9. Investigations on the Oxidation of Iron-chromium and Iron-vanadium Molten Alloys

    Author : Haijuan Wang; Seshadri Seetharaman; Ashok Lahiri; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oxidation; High-alloy steelmaking; Retention; CO2-O2; Fe-Cr melt; Fe-Cr-C melt; Fe-V melt; Vanadium containing slags; Kinetics; Thermodynamics properties.; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : With the progress of high alloy steelmaking processes, it is essential to minimize the loss of valuable metals, like chromium and vanadium during the decarburization process, from both economic as well as environmental view points. One unique technique to realize this aim, used in the present work, is the decarburization of high alloy steel grades using oxygen with CO2 in order to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen. 5. 10. Corrosion of current cullector materials in the molten carbonate fuel cell

    Author : Baohua Zhu; KTH; []
    Keywords : molten carbonate fuel cell MCHC ; corrosion; current collecotr; contact corrosion reistance;

    Abstract : The corrosion of current collector materials in MoltenCarbonate Fuel Cells (MCFC) is investigated. The essential aimsof this investigation were to study the corrosion behaviour ofdifferent materials, in varying cathode and anode MCFCenvironments, and to study the contact corrosion resistancesbetween the MCFC current collector and electrodes.
