  1. 1. Thermodynamic Aspects on Inclusion Composition and Oxygen Activity during Ladle Treatment

    Author : Johan Björklund; Pär Jönsson; Margareta Andersson; Leiv Kolbeinsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ladle treatment; thermodynamics; inclusions; steel; slag; equilibrium; ladle treatment; vacuum; oxide activity; oxygen activity.; Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Two industrial studies and one set of lab scale trials have been done. In addition, a theoretical study has been done. The main focus has been on non metallic inclusion composition during the ladle refining operation in industrial steel production. Sampling has been done together with careful inclusion determination. 2. 2. Physical activity and energy expenditure in clinical settings using multisensor activity monitors

    Author : Daniel Arvidsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Physical activity; energy expenditure; children; activity monitors; multisensors; validity; reliability; congenital heart defects; aerobic fitness;

    Abstract : Background: Objective methods need to replace subjective methods for accurate quantification of physical activity. To be used in clinical settings objective methods have to show high reliability, validity and feasibility. The commonly used activity monitors are unable to detect the variety of physical activities. 3. 3. Oxygen Vacancy Chemistry in Ceria

    Author : Jolla Kullgren; Kersti Hermansson; Shluger Alex; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ceria; Density Functional Theory; Oxygen storage; Nano crystals; Sulfur poisoning; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Cerium(IV) oxide (CeO2), ceria, is an active metal oxide used in solid oxide fuel cells and for the purification of exhaust gases in vehicle emissions control. Behind these technically important applications of ceria lies one overriding feature, namely ceria's exceptional reduction-oxidation properties. READ MORE

  4. 4. A study of slag-steel-inclusion interaction during Ladle treatment

    Author : Johan Björklund; Pär Jönsson; Voicu Brabie; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ladle treatment; steel; slag; inclusions; ladle; refining; vacuum; tool steel; oxide activity; slag models; oxygen; equilibrium; Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The thesis is based on two supplements with two major objectives. In the first supplement equilibrium top slag-steel bulk and inclusions-steel bulk were investigated by comparison between calculated and measured oxygen activity values. This was done by applying different oxide activity models for slags combined with thermodynamic calculations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Calorimetric methods for the study of fungi on building materials

    Author : Yujing Li; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fungal growth; fungal activity; ergosterol; humidity; temperature; calorespirometry; oxygen; mätmetoder; röta; svamp; byggmaterial; påväxt; kalorimetri; microcalorimetry; isothermal calorimetry; Fungi; building materials; mould; Serpula lacrymans; rot fungi;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to study the fungal growth habits on building materials as a function of humidity, temperature and other environmental parameters. The method of calorimetry is used as a way to quantify fungal activity on building materials. READ MORE
