  1. 1. Chemical Vapour Deposition of Undoped and Oxygen Doped Copper (I) Nitride

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anna Fallberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical vapour deposition; copper hexafluoroacetylacetonate; copper I nitride; copper I oxide; multilayers; oxygen doping; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Organic chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Organisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : In science and technology there is a steadily increased demand of new materials and new materials production processes since they create new application areas as well as improved production technology and economy. This thesis includes development and studies of a chemical vapour deposition (CVD) process for growth of thin films of the metastable material copper nitride, Cu3N, which is a semiconductor and decomposes at around 300 oC. 2. 2. Point defects and ion conduction in solid oxides: a first-principles case study of La2Zr2O7

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Joakim Nyman; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton; self compensation; hydrogen economy; DFT; La2Zr2O7; acceptor doping; lanthanum zirconate; oxygen vacancy; SOFC; pyrochlore; point defect; trapping; computational methods; solid oxide; charge compensation; first principles; ion conduction; solid oxide fuel cell; ceramic electrolyte; defect cluster; fuel cell; hydrogen;

    Abstract : In the endeavor to attain a clean environment and sustainable energy consumption, the notion of a future hydrogen economy stands out as one of the grandest visions. Striving for this vision, a critical task lies in optimizing the performance of the fuel-cell devices responsible for extracting electric power from the energy stored in hydrogen molecules. 3. 3. Growth Hormone in Athletes

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Göteborg University

    Author : Christer Ehrnborg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2007]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Growth hormone; IGF-I; bone markers; doping; athletes; maximum exercise test; variability; supraphysiological; body composition; physical performance; IGFBP-4; IGFBP-5;

    Abstract : Doping with growth hormone (GH) is a well-known problem both among elite athletes and among people training at gyms. It is mainly the anabolic and, to some extent, lipolytic effect of GH that is valued by its users. READ MORE

    Abstract : Heterogeneous electrocatalysis is the usage of solid materials to decrease the amount of energy needed to produce chemicals using electricity. It is of core importance for modern life, as it enables production of chemicals, such as chlorine gas and sodium chlorate, needed for e.g. materials and pharmaceuticals production. READ MORE

  5. 5. Controlling Electronic and Geometrical Structure of Honeycomb-Lattice Materials Supported on Metal Substrates Graphene and Hexagonal Boron Nitride

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Nikolay Vinogradov; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphene; h-BN; electronic structure; adsorption; doping; nano-templates; PES; NEXAFS; LEEM; STM; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The present thesis is focused on various methods of controlling electronic and geometrical structure of two-dimensional overlayers adsorbed on metal surfaces exemplified by graphene and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) grown on transition metal (TM) substrates. Combining synchrotron-radiation-based spectroscopic and various microscopic techniques with in situ sample preparation, we are able to trace the evolution of overlayer electronic and geometrical properties in overlayer/substrate systems, as well as changes of interfacial interaction in the latter.
