  1. 1. Molecular characterization of FOX factors and Wnt signalling interplay in human cancers

    Author : Giulia Pizzolato; Stefan Koch; Åsa Keita; Boudewijn Burgering; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FOX proteins; Wnt signalling; p53; Tumour biology; Transcription factors; Proteine FOX; Via di segnalazione Wnt; p53; Biologia dei tumori; Fattori di trascrizione;

    Abstract : Wnt/β-catenin signalling, also referred to as canonical Wnt signalling, is a critical regulator of tissue homeostasis and of the differentiation of cells during development. The outcome of canonical Wnt pathway activity is defined by the regulation of target gene transcription, which ultimately determines cell identity and proliferation. READ MORE

  2. 2. p53-dependent and -independent mechanisms of p53-targeting small molecules

    Author : Jiawei Zhu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Tumor suppressor p53 (Tp53) is mutated in around half of human cancers, while in wild type p53 cells its activity is continuously inhibited by MDM2 through proteasome degradation resulting in the loss of its function. Currently, cancer treatments with small molecules based on reactivation of wild type p53 and restoration of mutant p53 have moved to clinical trials and exhibited promising anti-cancer effects. 3. 3. Microarray Based Gene Expression Analysis in Cancer Research

    Author : Cecilia Laurell; Joakim Lundberg; Peter Nilsson; Karin Dahlman-Wright; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenocortical tumour; apoptosis; cancer; classification; gene expression; microarray; p53; RNA amplification; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Biotechnological inventions during the 20th century have resulted in a wide range of approaches for explorations in the functional genomics field. Microarray technology is one of the recent advances which have provided us with snapshots of which genes are expressed in cells of various tissues and diseases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ultraviolet Radiation and Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Human Skin

    Author : Cecilia Wassberg; Olle Larkö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Ultraviolet radiation; squamos cell carcinoma; incidence; sunscreens; p53; DNA damage; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Dermatology and Venerology; dermatologi och venereologi;

    Abstract : Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is a major risk factor for development of skin cancer. UVR-induced DNA damage and a dysfunctional p53 protein are important steps in the development of squamous cell carcinoman in human skin (SCC). READ MORE

  5. 5. Precision medicine and targeted therapy : Turning the tables on cancer

    Author : Anja Mortensen; Marika Nestor; Gregory Adams; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : p53 cancers; PM2; radiosensitization; radio-immunotherapy; MDM2 X inhibition; combination therapy; targeted radionuclide therapy; CD44v6; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : An extended understanding of the molecular characteristics of cancer has led to a revolution within the field of precision medicine. This thesis explores the utilization of two targets for precision medicine, namely, CD44v6 and murine double-minute 2 and X (MDM2/X). READ MORE
