16. Alumina Thin Film Growth: Experiments and Modeling
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with experimental and theoretical studies related to the growth of crystalline alumina thin films. Alumina, Al2O3, is a polymorphic material utilized in a variety of applications, e.g., in the form of thin films. READ MORE

17. Fluid structure interactiontesting, modelling and development of Passive Adaptive Composite foils
Abstract : High performance foiling catamarans are one of the fastest growing sectors in the sailing and sport industries, allowing athletes to perform in extremely fast and spectacular boats. These boats fly above the water with the aid of foils that not only provide horizontal side-force to counterbalance the aerodynamic forces from the sails, but also deliver vertical force that supports some or all of the mass of the boat. 18. Dynamic posturography in evaluating human equilibrium
Abstract : Equilibrium assessment by means of posturography can be performed ina dynamic fashion, meaning that the environment does not remainstable during the test. In the EquiTest dynamic posturography version, the support surface and the visual surround are movable, actively or in response to body movements. READ MORE

19. On laser Doppler flowmetry : methods and microvascular applications
Abstract : A laser Doppler flowmeter for non-invasive microcirculatory blood flow studies has been developed. The tissue under study is illuminated by laser light (helium-neon laser, output power 2 mW) via an optical fibre and the Doppler shift oflight scattered in moving red cells is analysed. READ MORE

20. Size and dynamics of active soil organic matter fraction as influenced by soil management
Abstract : The determination of what has been termed an "active fraction" of soil organic matter (SOM) and the effect of management on the size and turnover of this fraction are the leading themes in the present thesis. The techniques employed to study the amount and turnover of this fraction include: long-term mineralization-incubations for determination of potentially mineralizable carbon (Co) and nitrogen (No), fumigation-incubation for determination of microbial biomass-C and N, and istotope techniques using 13C and 15N for determination of the dynamics of soil C and N.
