  1. 16. Mineral element contents in drinking water - aspects on quality and potential links to human health

    University dissertation from Inst. of Chemical Engineering, LTH

    Author : Ingegerd Rosborg; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; Technological sciences; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; water treatment effects; hair concentrations; pH; magnesium; calcium; bicarbonate; drinking water; minerals;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Mineraler fås från både fast och flytande föda. De senaste årtiondena har bordsvattenkonsumtionen ökat, och vattnets kemiska innehåll har alltmer kommit i fokus. Studier visar dessutom att grönsakers mineralinnehåll har minskat, vilket ökar betydelsen av mineralintag från annat håll. READ MORE

  2. 17. New insights into principles of scaffolds design for bone application

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Hongji Yan; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chondroitin sulfate; hyaluronic acid; pH; cross-linking chemistry; bone morphogenetic protein; lithium; mesenchymal stem cell; in vivo.; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials;

    Abstract : This thesis presents deeper insights into bone applicable biomaterials’ design. Poor affinity of BMP-2 towards scaffolds required supra-physiological dose administration. Though molecules containing sulfate could sustain BMP-2 release, side effects occurred due to BMP-2 supra-dose, or these sulfate-containing biomolecules. READ MORE

  3. 18. Effects of Protons and Small Alcohols on the Oxygen-Evolving Complex of Photosystem II

    University dissertation from Biochemistry, Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Paulina Geijer; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EPR; pH; methanol; S3; S2; S0; YZ; Mn cluster; Oxygen-evolving complex; S-states; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : Higher plants and algae use oxygenic photosynthesis to convert solar energy to reducing equivalents and chemical energy. The ultimate electron donor to oxygenic photosynthesis is water. Oxidation of water to oxygen occurs in the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) in Photosystem II (PSII). The OEC is composed of four Mn atoms, Ca2+ and Cl-. READ MORE

  4. 19. Plant type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenases : Structure, regulation and evolution of NDB proteins

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology

    Author : Mengshu Hao; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2019-05-03]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; Ca2 ; Electron transport; NDH-2; NDB; pH; NADH; NADPH; Plant mitochondria; Potato; Type II NAD P H dehydrogenase;

    Abstract : In living organisms, respiration is a biological process degrading different carbon substrates, consuming O2, and releasing the carbon as CO2. Plants have several alternative enzymes that are involved in the respiratory processes, as compared to animals. READ MORE

  5. 20. Fatty acid amide hydrolase - A target for anti-inflammatory therapies?

    University dissertation from Umeå : Farmakologi och klinisk neurovetenskap

    Author : Sandra Holt; Umeå universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; FAAH; anandamide; endocannabinoid; pH; inflammation; NSAID; Farmakologi; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology Pharmacological research; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi Farmakologisk forskning; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Abstract : Anti-inflammatory drugs are a widely used class of therapeutic agents, but the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) is hampered by their gastrointestinal side-effects. Recent reports that cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors may cause cardiovascular events underline the importance of identifying new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of inflammation. READ MORE
