1. Throughput Analysis of Interfering Packet Radio Networks
Abstract : In this thesis, a probabilistic framework is presented and used for analysis of the throughput of interfering packet-based radio networks, referred to as packet radio networks (PRNs). Previous research on the performance of PRNs covers a wide variety of systems and aspects in varying levels of detail. READ MORE

2. Short-Packet Communications: Fundamental Performance and Key Enablers
Abstract : The paradigm shift from 4G to 5G communications, predicted to enable new use cases such as ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), will enforce a radical change in the design of communication systems. Unlike in 4G systems, where the main objective is to have a large transmission rate, in URLLC, as implied by its name, the objective is to enable transmissions with low latency and, simultaneously, very high reliability. 3. Robust Multimedia Communications over Packet Networks
Abstract : Multimedia communications over packet networks, and in particular the voice over IP (VoIP) application, have become an integral part of society. However, the unreliable and heterogeneous nature of packet networks has led to a best-effort delivery of services. READ MORE

4. Ultra-Reliable Short-Packet Communications: Fundamental Limits and Enabling Technologies
Abstract : The paradigm shift from 4G to 5G communications, anticipated to enable ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), will enforce a radical change in the design of wireless communication systems. Unlike in 4G systems, where the main objective is to provide a large transmission rate, in URLLC, as implied by its name, the objective is to enable transmissions with low latency and, simultaneously, very high reliability. 5. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems
Abstract : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them.
