21. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops
Abstract : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations. 22. Interaction and adhesion at the interface between wood and paint, glue, lacquer measured with DMTA and SEM
Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to study the interface between wood (Pinus sylvestis) and synthetic polymers such as glue, lacquer and paint. The weakest part of these interfaces is always the bond. The long-term properties of bonds between wood and an adherend are those which are interesting. READ MORE

23. Release rates and toxicity of metals from anti-fouling paints and the role of chemical speciation
Abstract : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to investigate and improve the risk assessment of anti-fouling paints. A new method, the Petri-dish method, was developed to determine release rates of copper and zinc from anti-fouling paints (Paper I). READ MORE

24. The Influence of Steel Sheet Surface-Topography on Friction in Stamping
Abstract : Steel sheet is the prevalent material for car body panels. In the manufacturing of steel sheets a certain surface roughness is achieved from the ground or textured rolls used in the three final reduction steps. When manufacturing car body panels the sheets first are formed and then painted. READ MORE

25. Experimental Design and Evaluation of Biocide Release from Microcapsules
Abstract : To protect a painted house façade from mold or algae, anti-growth agents are usually mixed in the paint. The protection of paint systems used in the past relied on heavy metals for protection and are banned today due to their negative impact on the environment. READ MORE
