11. Signs of Acquiring Bimodal Bilingualism Differently : A Longitudinal Case Study of Mediating a Deaf and a Hearing Twin in a Deaf Family
Abstract : This dissertation based on a case study explores the acquisition and the guidance of Swedish Sign Language and spoken Swedish over a span of seven years. Interactions between a pair of fraternal twins, one deaf and one hearing, and their Deaf[1] family were video-observed within the home setting. READ MORE

12. Wireless High-Temperature Monitoring of Power Semiconductors : A Single-Chip Approach
Abstract : Because failures in power electronic equipment can cause production stops and unnecessary damage to interconnected equipment, monitoring schemes that are able to predict such failures provide various economic and safety benefits. The primary motivation for this thesis is that such monitoring schemes can increase the reliability of energy production plants. READ MORE

13. The Single Cooper Pair Box - a Quantum-Mechanical Electronic Circuit
Abstract : In this thesis the single Cooper pair box (SCB) is investigated with a radio frequency single electron transistor (RF-SET). The RF-SET is used as an electrometer to detect the charge of the SCB. The SCB can be regarded as a quantum two-level system and could therefore be a possible qubit. READ MORE

14. Studies on the enantioselective disposition of amlodipine : A challenge in bioanalysis
Abstract : To study the disposition of the enantiomers of the calcium channel blocker amlodipine in human plasma, an enantioselective high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) assay was developed. Several HPLC techniques such as chiral ion-pair forming, chiral derivatisation and direct separation on chiral columns were evaluated. READ MORE

15. Design of new materials with crystal structure-related properties : The role of lone pair cations
Abstract : Non-centrosymmetry and low-dimensional arrangements, e.g. chains or layers, are very attractive structural characteristics of crystalline compounds since they are linked to some physical properties including nonlinear optical activity, ferroelectricity and magnetic frustration. READ MORE
