1. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure
Abstract : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 2. Static and Dynamic Modelling of the Drying Section of a Paper Machine
Abstract : The paper making process involves chopping of wood, cooking and forming, followed by dewatering in a vacuum section, press section and drying section. Several models for the most important parts of the paper machine drying section are presented in this thesis to describe phenomena at steady state and during state transitions. READ MORE

3. Optimization of sheet metal forming processes
Abstract : The aim of the present work is to find a stable and effective optimization algorithm that can be used to determine the location and size of drawbeads in sheet metal forming processes. The result from the optimization will be the restraining force that each drawbead applies to the blank. READ MORE

4. Concepts for hot sheet metal forming of titanium alloys
Abstract : To increase the competitiveness of the Swedish aero engine industry alternative manufacturing methods for load carrying aero engine structures are desired, in order to reduce product cost and enable weight reduction and thereby fuel consumption. Traditionally, these structures mainly consist of large-scaled single castings of e.g. READ MORE

5. Hydrodynamics of plane liquid jets aimed at applications in paper manufacturing
Abstract : Process industries are in general depending, in one way or the other, on fluid mechanics.Specifically, paper manufacturing, which probably is the dominant processindustry in Sweden, is depending on the flow of cellulose fibres suspended in water. READ MORE
