6. A two-step regression method with connections to partial least squares and the growth curve model
Abstract : Prediction of a continuous response variable from background data is considered. The independent prediction variable data may have a collinear structure and comprise group effects. A new two-step regression method inspired by PLS (partial least squares regression) is proposed. READ MORE

7. Analysis of Metabolites in Complex Biological Samples Using LC/MS and Multivariate Data Analysis : Metabolic Fingerprinting and Detection of Biomarkers
Abstract : To facilitate early diagnosis of diseases and elucidation of the processes involved in their development and progression, various specific compounds or ‘biomarkers’ are often monitored. The first step is to decide which compounds to analyze. READ MORE

8. Multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions
Abstract : In this thesis some multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions are proposed. Spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis form a powerful combination for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative information and it is shown how spectroscopic techniques in combination with chemometric data evaluation can be used to obtain rapid, simple and efficient analytical methods. 9. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments
Abstract : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 10. A multivariate approach to QSAR
Abstract : Quantitative structure-activity relationships (OSAR) constitute empirical analogy models connecting chemical structure and biological activity. The analogy approach to QSAR assume that the factors important in the biological system also are contained in chemical model systems. The development of a QSAR can be divided into subproblems:1.
