  1. 6. Direct conversion of methane-to-methanol: transition-metal dimer sites in small-pore zeolites: First-principles calculations and microkinetic modeling

    Author : Unni Engedahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; partial methane oxidation; microkinetic modeling; SSZ-13; CHA; alloy; transition metals; zeolites; density functional theory;

    Abstract : Direct conversion of methane to methanol is a highly desired reaction. Partially oxidizing methane into a liquid fuel at ambient temperature and pressure would enable utilization of natural gas and biogas to a much larger extent than what is possible today. READ MORE

  2. 7. Development of catalysts for natural gas-fired gas turbine combustors

    Author : Sara Eriksson; Magali Boutonnet; Pio Forzatti; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AZEP; catalytic combustion; CPO; methane oxidation; palladium; rhodium; support effect; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Due to continuously stricter regulations regarding emissions from power generation processes, further development of existing gas turbine combustors is essential. A promising alternative to conventional flame combustion in gas turbines is catalytic combustion, which can result in ultralow emission levels of NOx, CO and unburned hydrocarbons. READ MORE

  3. 8. Surface Studies of Model Systems relevant for Pd and Ag Catalysts

    Author : Natalia Martin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; alumina; Ag; NiAl; Pd; catalysis; model system; Surface X-ray Diffraction; Low Energy Electron Diffraction; Scanning Tunneling Microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Martin;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis reports on investigations of the atomic scale structure of model catalysts relevant for the catalytic oxidation of CO and methane over Pd, and NOx reduction over silver-alumina, important reactions in automotive catalysts. By using complementary experimental techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, High Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Surface X-ray Diffraction, Low Energy Electron Diffraction, Infrared Spectroscopy, and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy, combined with theoretical calculations, the work presented in this thesis aims at an atomistic characterization of the active sites for silver-alumina and Pd model catalysts which may help to the design of new and improved catalysts. 4. 9. Catalytic Combustion in Gas Turbines : Experimental Study on Gasified Biomass Utilization

    Author : Arturo Manrique Carrera; Torsten H. Fransson; Gianpiero Groppi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Environmental and geopolitical concerns encourage societies towards the utilization of renewable energy sources (RES). Photovoltaic and wind power can produce electricity directly, although their intermittent characteristic negatively affects the security and safety of the energy supply chain; moreover, in order to be viable it is necessary to establish energy storage systems and to find mechanisms to adapt the power distribution grid to larger production variability. 5. 10. Energy Efficient Processes for the Production of Gaseous Biofuels - Reforming and Gas Upgrading

    Author : Helena Svensson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biofuels; Reverse-flow reforming; Gas upgrading; Amine absorption;

    Abstract : Replacing fossil fuels with biofuels is one way of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, thus decreasing our impact on the global climate. For this to be a viable option, several production routes are needed, as no single option can fully replace fossil fuels. READ MORE
