  1. 1. Fine particle emissions and slag formation in fixed-bed biomass combustion : aspects of fuel engineering

    Author : Jonathan Fagerström; Christoffer Boman; Dan Boström; Marcus Öhman; Bengt-Johan Skrifvars; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable energy; biomass; thermochemical fuel conversion; combustion; fine particle emissions; slag formation; fixed-bed; ash chemistry; fuel engineering; release;

    Abstract : There is a consensus worldwide that the share of renewable energy sources should be increased to mitigate climate change. The strive to increase the renewable energy fraction can partly be met by an increased utilization of different biomass feedstocks. READ MORE

  2. 2. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Author : Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. Abstract : The organisation of fluids in small compartments is ubiquitous in nature, such as in the cellular composition of all life. This work explores several engineering avenues where microscale fluid compartmentalization can bring novel material properties or novel functionality in life sciences or medicine. READ MORE

  4. 4. Particle concentrations : analysis methods for urban runoff

    Author : Kerstin Nordqvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Urban runoff often contains high concentrations of particles. Pollutants that adsorbs to surfaces of particulate material will be transported to receiving waters or a sewage treatment plant. For the recipient, the particles in the runoff are a significant cause of water quality impairment. READ MORE
