  1. 1. Source-Receptor Modeling of Air Pollution : Assessment of Source Contributions: Source Characterization and Chemometric Applications

    Author : Emma Hedberg Larsson; Christer Johansson; H.-C. Hansson; Ralf Torgrip; Paulo Artaxo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Particles; Source-receptor modeling; PMF; Elemental source profiles; Levoglucosan; Wood combustion; Air pollution; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Particles released to the atmosphere from anthropogenic sources affect the Earth’s climate as well as the health of the population. Anthropogenic sources of atmospheric particles are e.g. the combustion of biomass and fossil fuels, road, brake and tire wear and various industrial activities. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aerosol Particle Sources Affecting the Swedish Air Quality at Urban and Rural Level

    Author : Adam Kristensson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wood combustion; traffic; long distance transport; nucleation; urban; background; PM2.5; PM10; source contribution; PIXE; Physics; Environmental technology; Fysik; pollution control; emissions; Aerosol particle; sources; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; size distribution; Fysicumarkivet A 2005:Kristensson;

    Abstract : During the last decades anthropogenic aerosol particles have attracted much attention due to their adverse health effects and their influence of climate change, and in Sweden, there are mainly three aerosol sources that affect the air quality; domestic wood combustion, traffic, and long distance transport, which includes new particle formation. This work concerns the characterization of these sources and an estimate of how much they contribute to the aerosol particle number (ToN) and mass concentrations (PM) in Swedish cities and at background locations. 3. 3. Health-related aerosol particle studies, respiratory tract deposition and indoor source identification

    Author : Jakob Löndahl; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosol particle; health; ultrafine particles; nanoparticle; deposition; respiratory tract; Fysicumarkivet A:000;

    Abstract : Aerosol particles have, since Classical Antiquity, been linked to adverse effects on human health. It is estimated that the particles in urban air pollution causes 100 000 deaths in Europe each year, whereof 5 000 in Sweden. READ MORE

  4. 4. Acoustic Sound Source Localisation and Tracking : in Indoor Environments

    Author : Anders Johansson; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Room acoustics; Speaker localisation; Tracking; State-space filter; Sequential Monte Carlo method; Particle filter;

    Abstract : With advances in micro-electronic complexity and fabrication, sophisticated algorithms for source localisation and tracking can now be deployed in cost sensitive appliances for both consumer and commercial markets. As a result, such algorithms are becoming ubiquitous elements of contemporary communication, robotics and surveillance systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Emittance and Energy Diagnostics for Electron Beams with Large Momentum Spread

    Author : Maja Olvegård; Volker Ziemann; Kay Wittenburg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; beam instrumentation; particle beam diagnostic; emittance; particle collider; particle accelerator; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : Following the discovery of the Higgs-like boson at the Large Hadron Collider, there is demand for precision measurements on recent findings. The Compact Linear Collider, CLIC, is a candidate for a future linear electron-positron collider for such precision measurements. READ MORE
