  1. 1. Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction - Early predictors of outcome

    Author : Thorkell Snaebjörnsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Knee; ACL; registry; hamstring tendon; anterior cruciate ligament; patellar tendon; graft failure; graft fixation; graft diameter; autograft; revision; outcome;

    Abstract : The rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a serious injury, often resulting in functional instability and increased laxity of the knee joint. Patients suffering an ACL injury run the risk of further complications, such as meniscal or cartilage injury in the short term and degeneration of the knee joint in the long term. READ MORE

  2. 2. On surgical techniques to reduce morbidity after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The significance of harvesting technique, preconditioning, graft choice and the course of bone mineral in the calcaneus

    Author : Lars Ejerhed; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction; patellar tendon autograft; semitendinosus tendon autograft; preconditioning; bone mineral areal mass;

    Abstract : The aim of the study was to reduce undesired postoperative effects, such as anterior knee pain, loss of sensitivity in the knee region and problems with knee-walking after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, prospectively to evaluate the bone mineral in the calcanei before and after ACL reconstruction. READ MORE

  3. 3. Long-term studies after primary and revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using different types of autograft - with special emphasis on the clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results

    Author : Mattias Lidén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Anterior cruciate ligament; Surgery; Radiology; Biopsy; Osteoarthritis; Histology; Ultrastructure;

    Abstract : Long-term studies after primary and revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using different types of autograft? with special emphasis on the clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results Mattias Lid?n Department of Orthopaedics, Institute of Clinical Sciences at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, G?teborg, Sweden The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcome after primary ACL reconstruction surgery using either BPTB or HT autografts and, in addition, ACL revision surgery using re-harvested patellar tendon autografts. Clinical and standard radiographic assessments were made of both the primary ACL-reconstructed knees and the patients who underwent ACL revision surgery using re-harvested patellar tendon autografts. 4. 4. The clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results after Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using autografts

    Author : Michael Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : anterior cruciate ligament; surgery; histology; biopsy; ultrastructure; radiology;

    Abstract : The clinical, radiographic, histological and ultrastructural results after Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using autografts Michael Svensson Department of Orthopaedics, Institute of Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy at G?teborg University, G?teborg, Sweden The principal aims of the study were to perform a long-term analysis of the patellar tendon structure after harvesting its central third as an autograft during ACL reconstruction. The patellar tendon underwent long-term serial morphological evaluations using MRI, histological evaluations at two and six years and ultrastructural evaluation six years after the harvesting procedure. 5. 5. Complications following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

    Author : Jesper Kraus Schmitz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) and septic arthritis (SA) are two rare complications following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Due to their rare incidence, risk factors and outcome are difficult to analyse and the aims of this thesis are to improve knowledge in this area. Methods: All studies are register based. READ MORE
