  1. 1. Modeling and Model Reduction in Automotive Systems

    Author : Oskar Nilsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automotive systems; Lambda sensor; Model reduction; Modeling; Engine air path;

    Abstract : The current control design development process in automotive industry and elsewhere involves many expensive experiments and hand-tuning of control parameters. Model based control design is a promising approach to reduce costs and development time. In this process low complexity models are essential. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modeling Oil Exploration and Production : Resource-Constrained and Agent-Based Approaches

    Author : Kristofer Jakobsson; Kjell Aleklett; Rob Hart; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oil production; forecasting; modeling; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik; Engineering Science with specialization in the Science of Global Energy Resources; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot globala energiresurser;

    Abstract : Energy is essential to the functioning of society, and oil is the single largest commercial energy source. Some analysts have concluded that the peak in oil production is soon about to happen on the global scale, while others disagree. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modeling and optimization of least-cost corridors

    Author : Lindsi Seegmiller; Takeshi Shirabe; Kai-Florian Richter; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; raster data modeling; raster-based geographic information systems; route planning; optimal routing; corridor; wide path; corridor width; distortion; three-dimensional grid; rasterdatamodellering; rasterbaserade geografiska informationssystem; ruttplanering; optimal dirigering; korridor; bred väg; korridorbredd; distorsion; tredimensionellt rutnät; Geoinformatics; Geoinformatik;

    Abstract : Given a grid of cells, each having a value indicating its cost per unit area, a variant of the least-cost path problem is to find a corridor of a specified width connecting two termini such that its cost-weighted area is minimized. A computationally efficient method exists for finding such corridors, but as is the case with conventional raster-based least-cost paths, their incremental orientations are limited to a fixed number of (typically eight orthogonal and diagonal) directions, and therefore, regardless of the grid resolution, they tend to deviate from those conceivable on the Euclidean plane. 4. 4. Age of Information Aware Communication Systems : Modeling and Performance Analysis

    Author : Antzela Kosta; Vangelis Angelakis; Nikolaos Pappas; Viktoria Fodor; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Advances in wireless communications and networking technology have taken us towards a pervasively connected world in which a vast array of wireless devices, from mobile phones to environmental sensors, seamlessly communicate with each other. In many of these systems the freshness of the transmitted information is of high importance. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spatial Analysis and Modeling for Health Applications

    Author : Lars Skog; Yifang Ban; Matthew Smallman-Raynor; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sweden; spatial analysis; spatial modeling; spatio-temporal spread; epidemiology; pandemic; walkability; health; Russian influenza; Asian influenza; A H1N1 pdm09; GWM; climate factors;

    Abstract : Despite the benefits of applying methods of geographic information science (GIScience), the use of such methods in health service planning and provision remains greatly underutilized. Spread of epidemic diseases is a constant threat to mankind and the globalization of the world increases the risk for global attacks from multi-resistant bacteria or deadly virus strains. READ MORE
