  1. 21. Role of Wnt-5a in breast cancer

    Author : Janna Sand-Dejmek; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General pathology; signal transduction; metastasis; adhesion; breast cancer; Syk; Wnt-5a; DDR1; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is one of the most common cancer forms in the industrialized world. Only in Sweden, nearly 6000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 1/3 of them eventually succumb to the disease. READ MORE

  2. 22. Predictive markers for tamoxifen response in primary breast cancer

    Author : Maria Stendahl; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; General pathology; Cytologi; onkologi; prognosis; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; predictive marker; p27; cyclin D1; tamoxifen; PR; breast cancer; ER; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Abstract : It is well-known that a majority of breast cancers are hormone-dependent, making endocrine therapy an important adjuvant treatment after surgery. Susceptibility to endocrine treatment is determined by the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) in the tumors. READ MORE

  3. 23. Cyclin E overexpression and associated events in human breast cancer

    Author : Maria Stighall; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; tumour growth pattern; invasion; proliferation; ID2; cyclin E; pRb; cell cycle; breast cancer;

    Abstract : Unrestrained proliferation is a hallmark of cancer and genetic defects within G1/S-phase regulation and the pRb pathway occur frequently. Proliferation control can be circumvented either by excess cyclin D1 or cyclin E, alterations that can define two alternative tumour biologic pathways in breast cancer. READ MORE

  4. 24. Wnt-5a signaling in breast cancer metastasis

    Author : Annette Säfholm; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; General pathology; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; breast cancer; Wnt-5a; migration; pathological anatomy; metastasis; signal transduction; peptides; Cytology; cancerology; oncology;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common form of malignancy affecting women in the Western world. Today, anticancer treatment can control primary breast tumors, but treatment and prevention of metastatic disease still represents a major challenge in the management of breast cancer patients. 5. 25. Influence of leukotriene D4 and cyclooxygenase-2 on cell survival

    Author : Katarina Wikström; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; General pathology; colorectal cancer; inflammation; apoptosis; LTD4; COX-2; patologisk anatomi;

    Abstract : The pro-inflammatory effect of leukotrienes is an important element in the pathogenesis of multiple disorders, including asthma and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). A serious concern for IBD patients is the increased risk of developing colorectal cancer and since there seems to be a general connection between inflammation and cancer we hypothesised that LTD4 induced signalling events could be involved in increasing the tumourgenic potential of cells.
