21. Analysis of Metabolites in Complex Biological Samples Using LC/MS and Multivariate Data Analysis : Metabolic Fingerprinting and Detection of Biomarkers
Abstract : To facilitate early diagnosis of diseases and elucidation of the processes involved in their development and progression, various specific compounds or ‘biomarkers’ are often monitored. The first step is to decide which compounds to analyze. READ MORE

22. Sensor Systems for Bioprocess Monitoring
Abstract : Two different detection methods for on-line monitoring of substrates and products in ethanol fermentations have been studied. Amperometric biosensors were developed for use as detectors in flow injection or liquid chromatographic (LC) systems. READ MORE

23. A Systematic Approach to Integrated Building Performance Assessment and Visualisation
Abstract : The aim of this project was to develop a holistic approach to building-performance assessment without limiting it to energy use (usually expressed in kWh/m2/year), but rather include more parameters that represent the following aspects: Economic, environmental, and quality of service provided to the occupant/client. If it can be shown that buildings can be operated not only in an energy-efficient way, but also in a way that takes into consideration the needs of the occupants, a case could be built that a higher quality of indoor environment does not necessarily mean a higher economic impact. 24. A High-end Reconfigurable Computation Platform for Particle Physics Experiments
Abstract : Modern nuclear and particle physics experiments run at a very high reaction rate and are able to deliver a data rate of up to hundred GBytes/s. This data rate is far beyond the storage and on-line analysis capability. Fortunately physicists have only interest in a very small proportion among the huge amounts of data. READ MORE

25. Innate immunity in atherosclerosis : the role of pattern recognition receptors
Abstract : The pathogenesis of atherosclerosis is greatly influenced by the activities of both innate and adaptive immunity. Danger signals such as cholesterol crystals, oxidized LDL, and modified phospholipids may trigger sterile inflammation in atherosclerosis. READ MORE
