1. Chemoenzymatic Resolution in Dynamic Systems : Screening, Classification and Asymmetric Synthesis
Abstract : This thesis is divided into four parts, all centered around Constitutional Dynamic Chemistry (CDC) and Dynamic Kinetic Resolution (DKR) using biocatalysts for selective transformations, and their applications in screening of bioactive compounds, organic synthesis, and enzyme classification. In part one, an introduction to CDC and DKR is presented, illustrating the basic concepts, practical considerations and potential applications of such dynamic systems, thus providing the background information for the studies in the following chapters. 2. Synthesis of Indole Alkaloids and Development of New Methodology
Abstract : This thesis describes our efforts towards the total synthesis of natural products and the development of a newmethodology to afford a synthetically important scaffold.Chapter 2 outlines our efforts towards the total synthesis of a marine natural product, perophoramidine as wellas our completed synthesis of dehaloperophoramidine. 3. Synthesis of substituted Ring-Fused 2-Pyridones and applications in chemical biology
Abstract : Antibiotics have been extensively used to treat bacterial infections since Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin 1928. Disease causing microbes that have become resistant to antibiotic drug therapy are an increasing public health problem. READ MORE

4. Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Platelets - Studies of Synthesis, Activity, and Glycosylation Patterns
Abstract : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main physiological inhibitor of tissue-type plasminogen activator. Thus PAI-1 plays an important role in decreasing the fibrinolytic activity in human blood. PAI-1 is present in high concentrations in platelets and also in low concentrations in plasma, but the source of plasma PAI-1 is not known. READ MORE

5. Optimization for scattering and radiation problems based on a stable FEM-FDTD hybrid method
Abstract : In this thesis, a stable hybrid method combining the finite-elementmethod (FEM) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) scheme forMaxwell's equations in two dimensions with both electric and magneticlosses is presented. It combines the flexibility of the FEM with theefficiency of the FDTD scheme. READ MORE
