    Abstract : In the studies underlying this thesis, various source tracing techniques were applied to environmental samples from the Baltic region.Comprehensive sampling and analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in surface sediments in Swedish coastal and offshore areas resulted in a unique data set for this region. 2. 2. From pattern to process : Studies on limestone grassland, with emphasis on the bryophyte-lichen layer and its effects on vascular plants

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Manuela Zamfir; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Alvar; Bryophytes; Carousel model; Community structure; Competition; Dynanmics; Interactions; Lichens; PASFRAN; pattern analysis; Sweden; Ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Abstract : Patterns in space and time at different scales in the bryophyte-lichen layer, aud multi-species spatial patterns of bryophytes, lichens and vascular plants were studied in Avenetum limestone grassland on the Great Alvar of the Baltic Island of Öland, south-eastem Sweden.Spatiotemporal patterns of bryophytes and Iichens in grazed and ungrazed alvar grassland demonstrated that dominant species forming large patches were relatively stable in time, whereas less frequent species forming small patches were more mobile. 3. 3. The Language of Textiles Description and Judgement on Textile Pattern Composition

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för hushållsvetenskap (IHV)

    Author : Siri Homlong; Christina Fjellström; Edith Skjeggestad; Lillemor Abrahamsson; Liv Merete Nielsen; [2006]
    Keywords : Arts and literature; Textile; Pattern; Design; Amish; Quilt; Aesthetic Qualities; Repertory grid method; Natural Color System; Sloyd; Implicit knowledge; Communication; Structure of attention; Estetiska ämnen;

    Abstract : The present study concerns ways to describe, judge and discuss aesthetic qualities of designed textile patterns. Specific aims were to study how colours and compositions used in Old Amish Quilts can be systematically described, to study how simple and complex patterns in printed textile fabrics are perceived and expressed verbally and to study judgements, concepts and values in relation to designed textile patterns as expressed by schoolchildren, consumers, teachers of textile handicraft and designers. 5. 5. The Sampling Pattern Cube A Framework for Representation and Evaluation of Plenoptic Capturing Systems

    University dissertation from Sundsvall, Sweden : Mid Sweden University

    Author : Mitra Damghanian; Mårten Sjöström; Roger Olsson; Göran Manneberg; [2013]

    Abstract : Digital cameras have already entered our everyday life. Rapid technological advances have made it easier and cheaper to develop new cameras with unconventional structures. The plenoptic camera is one of the new devices which can capture the light information which is then able to be processed for applications such as focus adjustments. READ MORE
