1. Evolution of eyes: Pax, gene duplications & morphology
Abstract : During the course of evolution animal complexity and diversity is generated. The last couple of years it has become increasingly clear that morphologically diverse animals share a great deal of their genomic contents, and it must be the expression of regulatory genes in new setting, rather than the generation of new genes, that are fundamental for the generation of diversity. 2. Keep them strong, keep them friendly : Swedish-American relations and the Pax Americana, 1948-1952
Abstract : This is a study of Swedish-American relations between 1948 and 1952, a period of exceptional flux and complexity in international politics. In this era of recovery and integration in Western Europe, the United States became profoundly engaged in European political, economic, and military affairs. READ MORE

3. Fetal Outcome in Experimental Diabetic Pregnancy
Abstract : Women with pregestational diabetes have a 2-5 fold increased risk of giving birth to malformed babies compared with non-diabetic women. Diabetes-induced oxidative stress in maternal and embryonic tissues has been implicated in the teratogenic process. READ MORE

4. Regulation and function of Pax-6 during head and eye development in Drosophila melanogaster
Abstract : In Drosophila melanogaster, eyeless and twin of eyeless have important function during eye development. Mutants of both genes give a variety of eye and head phenotypes with the strongest being almost headless meaning that they lack all structures derived from the eye-antennal disc. READ MORE

5. Instrumentation development for physics with antiproton beams
Abstract : This thesis summarises work done in the preparation for the PANDA (antiproton ANnihilations at DArmstadt) experiment, that will be built at the HESR (High Energy Storage Ring) at FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) and for the PAX (Polarised Antiproton eXperiment) experiment proposed for the HESR.For PANDA, characteristics of the electromagnetic calorimeter have been measured at the tagged photon beam facility at the MAX IV laboratory for 61 photon energies in the range 12-63 MeV.
