1. Peacebuilding in post-genocide Rwanda: The role of cooperatives in the restoration of interpersonal relationships
Abstract : This thesis is aimed at contributing to the lack of knowledge in the field of peacebuilding from below, notably regarding the mechanisms to be used in order to overcome the painful past between conflicting parties. The study makes this contribution through an empirically based exploration of the relational outcomes resulting from conflicting parties’ memberships of the same cooperative organization after the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. 3. Ambivalent Peace : External Peacebuilding, Threatened Identity and Reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Abstract : This study expands the enquiry of external efforts to build peace after an ethnic war by investigating the effects these efforts may have on societal security and reconciliation among groups in a host society. To achieve this, a theoretical framework, combining theories on the character of external peacebuilding, and theories on societal security and reconciliation, was devised and applied to the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
