  1. 1. Long-term consequences of anterior cruciate ligament injury : knee function, physical activity level, physical capacity and movement pattern

    Author : Eva Tengman; Charlotte Häger; Eva Ageberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ACL injury; cross-sectional design; isokinetic; peak torque; centre of pressure; kinematics; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Abstract : Knee function after more than 20 years post injury is rarely described and none of the few follow-up studies have evaluated functional performance tasks. This thesis investigated self-reported knee function, physical activity level, physical capacity and movement pattern in the long-term perspective (on average 23 years) in persons who had suffered a unilateral ACL injury, treated either with physiotherapy in combination with surgery (ACLR, n=33) or physiotherapy alone (ACLPT, n=37) and compared to age-and-gender matched controls (n=33). 2. 2. Machinability Testing of Materials in Metal Cutting with Focus on Compacted Graphite Iron and Cutting Fluids

    Author : Varun Nayyar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; UTS.; Boring; Drilling; Cutting Fluid; Turning; Milling; Force; Wear; Force; Torque; Compressed air; CGI; Hardness; Tool Life; Material Properties; Chip Microstructure; Tapping;

    Abstract : Due to the stringent demands for lower emission from trucks require better mechanical properties of the material to be used in the engines. Better efficiency necessitates higher peak pressure in the engines and for traditionally used material, Flake Graphite Iron (FGI), the mechanical properties starts to reach the limit of what the material can withstand. 3. 3. On the Design of Electric Traction Machines : Design and Analysis of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine for Heavy Commercial Vehicles

    Author : Rasmus Andersson; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Design of electrical machines; IPMSM; Electric propulsion; Thermal model; Skewing; Torque ripple analysis; Mechanical losses; Iron losses; Loss analysis; Heavy commercial vehicles;

    Abstract : Recent years have proven the benefits of electrifying the road bound vehicle fleet. With new components entering, the general understanding as well as the components as such needs to be improved. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical and arthroscopic assessment of wrist ligament injuries and instability

    Author : Jonny K Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; wrist; wrist arthroscopy; carpal ligaments; scapholunate ligament; lunotriquetral ligament; triangular fibrocartilage complex; distal radio-ulnar joint; instability; magnetic resonance imaging; forearm rotation torque; children; adolescents;

    Abstract : Wrist ligament injuries are common after trauma, especially when concomitant dislocated radius fractures are present. The diagnostics of scapholunate (SL), lunotriquetral (LT) and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injuries are challenging and most often dependent on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination or invasive arthroscopy. 5. 5. Ankle sprain : subjective and objective measures of functional impairment and treatment

    Author : Johan Leanderson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Ankle sprain; epidemiology; postural sway; muscle torque; muscle imbalance; proprioception; joint position sense; figure-of-eight running; sick leave; ankle brace treatment; functional instability; basketball; ballet; soccer; taping; Sickness Impact;

    Abstract : This thesis is based upon a series of studies were performed in order to provide more information about the etiology of late symptoms after ankle sprain, most often referred to as functional instability of the ankle joint. In a retrospective study of basketball players, the incidence of ankle sprains and the prevalence of late symptoms after such an injury were investigated. READ MORE
