  2. 2. Interactions of the Cell-Penetrating Peptide Penetratin with Model Membranes and Live Cells

    Author : Daniel Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antisense; antennapedia homeodomain; delivery vector; cell-penetrating peptide; protein transduction; uptake; membrane translocation; penetratin; confocal microscopy; vesicle;

    Abstract : The delivery of large, hydrophilic molecules, such as proteins and oligonucleotides, to the cytoplasm and nucleus of cells is problematic due to their generally low plasma membrane permeability. With the identification of a number of cell-penetrating peptides, capable of mediating non-endocytotic, intracellular delivery of macromolecular cargos, this obstacle now seems surmountable. 3. 3. Cell-Penetrating Penetratin Peptides - Mechanistic Studies on Uptake Pathways and DNA Delivery Efficiency

    Author : Helene Åmand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane vesicle; Lysine; Stimulated endocytosis; Gene delivery; Cell surface affinity; Penetratin; Cell-penetrating peptide; Cysteine; Uptake; Arginine;

    Abstract : Delivery of gene-targeted drugs is limited by the inherently poor capacity of nucleic acids to overcome the membrane barrier of the cell, and development of vectors that can promote uptake is therefore crucial. Cell penetrating peptides (CPPs) have emerged as promising vector candidates due to their ability to deliver a wide range of macromolecular cargos into cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structure and Dynamics of Membrane Associated Peptides

    Author : Henrik Biverståhl; Lena Mäler; Charles R. Sanders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biophysics; Biofysik; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : The peptide-membrane interaction is a key element for many biological functions, from cell signaling to cell internalization. In this thesis the peptide-membrane interaction of six different peptides have been studied with respect to their structure, membrane location and dynamics with spectroscopic methods. READ MORE
