1. A physical modeling study of top blowing with focus on the penetration region
Abstract : This thesis work aimed at increasing the knowledge regarding phenomena occurring when gas is injected using a top-blown lance on to a bath. All results are based on physical modeling studies carried out both using low and high gas flow rates and nozzle diameters ranging from 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm. READ MORE

2. Concrete Structures Subjected to Fragment Impacts
Abstract : As concrete is commonly used for protective structures, how a blast wave and fragment impacts from an explosion affect the concrete is an important issue. Concrete subjected to explosive loading responds very differently from statically loaded structures. READ MORE

3. Moisture Transport in Porous Media. Modelling Based on Kirchhoff Potentials
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is focused on the development of the new concept to describe isothermal moisture transport using Kirchhoff potentials. The first four papers deal with moisture transport in porous media using Kirchhoff potentials. The last three papers deal with wood. READ MORE

4. Device Technology Based on High Temperature Superconductors and Microwave Breakdown in Gases
Abstract : This thesis deals with two separate fields of microwave technology. The first section treats microwave characterization and applications of high temperature superconducting (HTS) thin films, while the second section treats microwave breakdown in transmit-receive (TR) switches and in air. Within the first section, four main topics are adressed. READ MORE

5. A study of some aspects of gas-slag-metal interactions : Towards dynamic process model and control
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the development of a new type of dynamic model for metallurgical reactors. It also covers some of the theoretical aspects of steelmaking that is necessary to include in such an application. The thesis consists of modeling work, high temperature experiments and cold model experiments. READ MORE
