1. Metal Affinity Peptides in Biotechnological Applications As tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, metal quantification and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants
Abstract : Metal affinity tags have been fused to proteins and demonstrated to function as tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, quantitative metal analysis and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants. In biotechnological applications proteins frequently have to function in nonnatural environments with harsh conditions which impose requirements for high stability on the proteins. READ MORE

2. Characterising Halogen Bonding in a Cooperative Model System
Abstract : Non-covalent interactions are the main driving factor for secondary structure formation of biomacromolecules and are of enormous importance for the direction of molecular recognition events, for example those of importance for drug discovery. Profound understanding of these interactions is of vital importance to achieve high affinity and selectivity of a ligand to a chosen target. READ MORE

3. Alkylglycoside Surfactants - Self-Assembly, Solid-State Properties and Interactions with Hydrophobic Molecules
Abstract : A thorough physical-chemical characterisation of alkylglycosides has been performed. The effects of temperature, salt, concentration and deuterium exchange on the self-aggregation of n-nonyl-b-D-glucoside (b-C9G1) and n-tetradecyl-b-D-maltoside (b-C14G2) have been studied in dilute solutions by static and dynamic light scattering, neutron scattering, rheology, capillary viscometry and tensiometry.
