1. Modeling Quantum Cascade Lasers : The Challenge of Infra-Red Devices
Abstract : We live in a time of rapid scientific and technological advancement. People liv- ing 100 years ago could never dream of inventions like those having completely changed our way of life, and our perception of the world; computers, mobile phones, the Internet, space travel, unraveling the mysteries of the early universe and distant galaxies, and our insight into the microscopic world of quantum phe- nomena. 2. Non-image-forming effects of light : Implications for the design of living and working environments
Abstract : Seasonal variation in mood and subjective well-being are common at geographical locations further away from the equator. The 24-h light-dark cycle is the main time cue for synchronizing the human circadian clock to the external day and night. READ MORE

3. CT Colonography: implementation and technical developments
Abstract : Background: Computed tomographic colonography (CTC) is a minimally invasive imaging method for the detection of colorectal neoplasms. Uncertainty about its diagnostic performance, optimal visualization method, long learning curve and radiation exposure are among problems with CTC, affecting its implementation in routine health care. 4. Molecular responses of plants to solar UV-B and UV-A radiation
Abstract : Plant responses to solar ultraviolet radiation (UV, 280-400 nm) were assessed at different molecular levels using Betula pendula Roth (silver birch) and Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) as model species in outdoor experiments to assess the possibly interacting roles of the UV-B and UV-A wavebands in acclimation to sunlight. Solar UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-A (315-400 nm) irradiance was attenuated with plastic films. READ MORE

5. Multi-Agent Mission Planning and Execution for Small Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
Abstract : Our planet is mostly covered in water, most of it still unexplored. In order to understand our environment better, oceanographers have been mapping and monitoring these waters using ship-mounted sensors and wired vehicles with limited range compared to the vastness of the oceans. READ MORE
