  1. 1. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 2. 2. Tailings Dam Performance : Modeling and Safety Analysis of a Tailings dam

    Author : Roger Knutsson; Annika Bjelkevik; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Storage and management of mine waste are both needed in the mining industry. After mineral extraction of the ore, there are generally leftovers with insufficient economical value that need to be taken care of. The finest grained fractions are referred to as tailings. READ MORE

  3. 3. Political institutions and government performance : Central and Eastern Europe in a comparative perspective

    Author : Sebastian Stålfors; Sten Berglund; Torbjörn Bergman; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political institutions; institutional arrangements; government performance; political system; majoritarian democracy; consensus democracy; quality of democracy; macroeconomic management; kinder and gentler democracy; Central and Eastern Europe; post-communist countries.; Political science; Statsvetenskap; Political Science; Statskunskap;

    Abstract : Central and Eastern Europe was strongly affected by the most recent wave of democratisation. Here, successful transition to democracy and market economy was sometimes perceived as a matter of choosing the ‘right’ institutional framework, presumably institutions employed in mature democracies. 4. 4. Performance Indicators. A performance prediction method for moisture safety design

    Author : Veronica Yverås; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Artificial Neural Network; Performance prediction; Moisture safety;

    Abstract : The aims of this research project is to develop and gain knowledge about a different approach to moisture safety design based on AI in order to attain healthy buildings and relate this new approach to current practice and prospective users. Secondary data (data produced for some other purpose) was used to train Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to predict the performance of outdoor ventilated crawl-spaces regarding microbiological smell, mould and rot. 5. 5. Performance Optimization Techniques and Tools for Data-Intensive Computation Platforms : An Overview of Performance Limitations in Big Data Systems and Proposed Optimizations

    Author : Vasiliki Kalavri; Vladimir Vlassov; Alberto Montresor; KTH; []
    Keywords : performance optimization; data-intensive computing; big data; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Big data processing has recently gained a lot of attention both from academia and industry. The term refers to tools, methods, techniques and frameworks built to collect, store, process and analyze massive amounts of data. Big data can be structured, unstructured or semi-structured.
