  1. 1. Reliability in performance-based regulation

    Author : Torbjörn Solver; Lennart Söder; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance-Based Regulation; Distribution System; Power System Reliability; Monte Carlo Simulations; Quality of Supply; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : In reregulated and restructured electricity markets the production and retail of electricity is conducted on competitive markets, the transmission and distribution on the other hand can be considered as natural monopolies. The financial regulation of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) has in many countries, partly as a consequence of the restructuring in ownership, gone through a major switch in regulatory policy. 2. 2. Safety in Case of Fire - The Effect of Changing Regulations

    Author : Johan Lundin; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; verification; risk analysis; uncertainty; prescriptive; risk control; building regulation; Performance-based; fire safety engineering; Teknik; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : In this doctoral thesis some fundamental problems concerning society's ability to control the safety in buildings in the case of fire by issuing performance-based building regulations are identified and analysed. Fire protection documentation from forty-six projects was studied, together with a detailed analysis of the Swedish building regulations and an extensive risk analysis of a class of buildings. 3. 3. The network performance assessment model : a new framework of regulating the electricity network companies

    Author : Mats B. O. Larsson; Torsten Cegrell; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Performance Based Regulation; Reference Network; Regulation of electricity; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : When the Swedish electricity market was re-regulated in 1996 the trading with electricity was exposed to competition and the net service henceforth should be comprised by a monopoly comprised by a regulation. The regulation was based on a review of the costs of the network companies. No attention were paid to if the network was efficient. READ MORE

  4. 4. Performance in the Swedish Building Code : An Inquiry into the Consequences for Architectural Design of the Formulation and Assessment of Performance Requirements

    Author : Marja Lundgren; Timothy Anstey; Fredrik Nilsson; Meike Schalk; Anne Beim; KTH; []

    Abstract : This thesis investigates performance-based regulation in Sweden and its consequences for architectural design. In the last 50 years, there has been a transition from prescriptive to performance-based regulation, propelled by the drive to further innovation, productivity and competitiveness by expressing the functions expected of the buildings as performances. Abstract : The introduction of performance based tariff regulations along with higher media and political pressure have increased the need for well-performed risk and asset management applied to electric power distribution systems (DS), which is an infrastructure considered as a natural monopoly. Compared to other technical systems, DS have special characteristics which are important to consider. READ MORE
