  1. 1. Computing abelian varieties over finite fields

    Author : Stefano Marseglia; Jonas Bergström; Christophe Ritzenthaler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; abelian varieties; finite fields; period matrices; ideal classes; orders; number fields; integral matrices; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we address the problem of developing effective algorithms to compute isomorphism classes of polarized abelian varieties over a finite field and of fractional ideals of an order in a finite product of number fields.There are well-known methods to efficiently compute the classes of invertible ideals of an order in a number field, but not much has previously been known about non-invertible ideals. 2. 2. In vitro and in vivo studies on biodegradable matrices for autotransplantation

    Author : Carl-Johan Gustafson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : In vitro; in vivo; dermis; matrix; autotransplantation; culture; keratinocytes; urothelium; tissue engineering; PUUR; macroporous spheres ; guided tissue regeneration;

    Abstract : Tissue engineering (TE), one of the most rapidly growing fields of life science, is an interdisciplinary area in which technical, biological and medical expertise co-fertilize on another with the ultimate aim of restoring, maintaining or improving tissues and/or organs. This purpose links TE closely to research concerning reconstructive plastic surgery. READ MORE

  3. 3. Scattering and propagation of electromagnetic waves in planar and curved periodic structures - applications to plane wave filters, plane wave absorbers and impedance surfaces

    Author : Ola Forslund; KTH; []
    Keywords : electromagnetic scattering; periodic structure; frequency selectiove structure; frequency selective surface;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is scattering of electromagneticwaves from planar and curved periodic structures. The problemspresented are solved in the frequency domain.Scattering from planar structures with two-dimensionalperiodic dependence of constitutive parameters is treated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Delocalization in nonperiodic systems

    Author : Lars Kroon; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The localization properties of non-interacting linear excitations in one-dimensional aperiodically ordered structures are investigated from a theoretical point of view. The models used have various relevance for real systems, like quasicrystals, photonic crystals, and deterministic aperiodic superlattices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Reciprocal Haunting : Pat Barker's Regeneration Trilogy

    Author : Karen Patrick Knutsen; Mark Troy; Maria Holmgren Troy; Sharon Monteith; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Pat Barker; The Regeneration Trilogy; Michel Foucault; Mikhail Bakhtin; Raymond Williams; Cultural Materialism; New Historicism; shell shock; psychoanalysis; British literature 1900-1999; class; gender; psychology; discourse; cultural trauma; dialogue; dialogism; power knowledge; English language; Engelska språket; English; Engelska;

    Abstract : Pat Barker’s fictional account of the Great War, The Regeneration Trilogy, completed in 1995, is considered to be her most important work to date and has captured the imagination of the reading public as well as attracting considerable scholarly attention. Although the trilogy appears to be written in the realistic style of the traditional historical novel, Barker approaches the past with certain preoccupations from 1990s Britain and rewrites the past as seen through these contemporary lenses.
