  1. 1. Regeneration in periodontal and endosseous implant treatment

    Author : Lisa Mayfield; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Odontology; guided tissue regeneration; Pressure sensitive periodontal probe; intraosseous defects; guided bone regeneration; EDTA root surface conditioning; bioabsorbable membrane; stomatology; Odontologi;

    Abstract : In a series of clinical studies regenerative procedures for periodontal disease treatment were evaluated. A reproducibility study of probing measurements using a manual periodontal probe and 3 pressure-sensitive probes showed that measurements obtained using the manual probe were the most repeatable. 2. 2. Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells and injections of microRNA as therapeutics for nervous system repair

    Author : Mallappa K. Kolar; Lev N. Novikov; Paul J. Kingham; Mikael Wiberg; Elisabet Åkesson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; spinal cord injury; peripheral nerve injury; mesenchymal stem cells; regeneration; neurotrophic factor; angiogenic factor;

    Abstract : Traumatic injuries to the spinal cord (SCI) and peripheral nerve (PNI) affect several thousand people worldwide every year. At present, there is no effective treatment for SCI and despite continuous improvements in microsurgical reconstructive techniques for PNI, many patients are still left with permanent, devastating neurological dysfunction. 3. 3. Bone tissue regeneration indento-alveolar surgery : clinical and experimental studies on biomaterials and bone graft substitutes

    Author : Annika Sahlin-Platt; Maria Ransjö; Christer Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomaterials; bone graft substitutes; compomer; root end filling; Bio-Oss; Bioactive glass 45S5; Algipore; SEM EDAX; ICP-OES; Cryo-XPS;

    Abstract : Pathological processes in the alveolar and facial bones can lead to bone loss that may not heal with complete regeneration. Biomaterials can be used to facilitate the healing process and/or as a bone substitute, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 4. Craniofacial bone tissue engineering with biomimetic constructs

    Author : Gregory Tour; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : bone regeneration;

    Abstract : The repair of bone defects and nonunions remains a significant clinical problem in orthopedic and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery. Tissue engineering offers a potential approach to overcome existing limitations related to auto- and allograft tissues. READ MORE

  5. 5. Peri-implantitis : treatment and effects of enamel matrix derivative

    Author : Catrine Isehed; Pernilla Lundberg; Anders Holmlund; Leif Jansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; implant; peri-implantitis; bone regeneration; enamel matrix derivative; surgical treatment; proteome; bone marrow macrophages; osteoclast formation; bone resorption; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Biological complications affecting osseointegrated dental implants are a growing treatment problem in clinical practice. Since the number of implant carriers has increased in recent decades, this is an urgent topic in dentistry. READ MORE
