1. Clinical, microbiological and immunological effects of antiseptics in periodontal treatment
Abstract : Periodontal diseases are characterized by high prevalence in many populations and the chronic and progressive course of the disease. A fundamental stage of treatment is mechanical debridement of the tooth surface. During debridement antimicrobial agents may be applied as adjunctive intrasulcular irrigants. READ MORE

2. Regeneration in periodontal and endosseous implant treatment
Abstract : In a series of clinical studies regenerative procedures for periodontal disease treatment were evaluated. A reproducibility study of probing measurements using a manual periodontal probe and 3 pressure-sensitive probes showed that measurements obtained using the manual probe were the most repeatable. 3. Root surface conditioning in periodontal treatment
Abstract : Marginal periodontal healing following both invasive and non-invasive therapies is influenced by a large number of systemic and local factors. In order to optimize healing, a lot of effort is put into minimizing possible sources of infection both in performing different periodontal therapies as well as during the healing period. READ MORE

4. On approaches to periodontal infection control
Abstract : The purpose of the project was to gain understanding of clinical possibilities and applicability of non-surgical periodontal therapy. A clinical study was designed to compare a full-mouth ultrasonic debridement approach with the traditional approach of consecutive sessions of quadrant-wise scaling/root planing with respect to the clinical outcome and long term stability. 5. Prevalence and Prognostic Impact of Periodontal Disease and Conventional Risk Factors in Patients with Stable Coronary Heart Disease
Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to assess the prevalence and management of established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and the prevalence and influence of self-reported markers (number of teeth and frequency of gum bleeding) of periodontal disease (PD), a less explored CV risk factor, in patients with stable chronic coronary heart disease (CHD).We studied patients from the global STabilization of Atherosclerotic plaque By Initiation of darapLadIb TherapY (STABILITY) trial (n=15,828), in which patients with stable chronic CHD were randomized to either darapladib or placebo.
