    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Architectural design and theory; presence design; presence research; mediated space; mediated presence; remote presence; mediated interaction; audiovisually extended architecture; media space; design friction; hybrid space; virtual space; tele presence; transdisciplinary; mutual gaze; mediated gaze; spatial montage; tertium quid; active spectatorship; shared mediated space; offscreen space; lateral and peripheral awareness; framing; transparency.; Architecture; Arkitektur; Human communication; Kommunikation mellan människor; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation; Media and communication studies; Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis is a contribution to design-led research and addresses a readership in the fields of architecture as well as in media and communications. In juxtaposing the tools of the designer (e.g. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spaces within Spaces : The Construction of a Collaborative Reality

    Author : Hillevi Sundholm; Carl Gustaf Jansson; Yvonne Rogers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Co-located collaboration; Distributed collaboration; Teamwork; Interactive spaces; Space; Computer and systems science; Data- och systemvetenskap; Man-Machine-Interaction MMI ; människa-maskin-interaktion MMI ;

    Abstract : This thesis is about collaborative activities in interactive spaces. These spaces are characterized by having shared, large displays in combination with private displays and software tools that facilitate a fluent sharing of information between people and their resources. READ MORE

  3. 3. Empirical studies of property appraiser behaviour and of location value in office rents

    Author : Olof Netzell; Åke Gunnelin; Lennart Berg; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Space Syntax; translog; hedonic model; office space; rent; Stockholm; property appraisal; capitalization rate; appraiser behaviour; Business and economics; Ekonomi;

    Abstract : In the first paper the effect of accessibility upon rent is investigated for office properties located in Downtown Stockholm. Starting from the firm’s cost minimization problem, a translog hedonic model is derived. The results suggest the model has good predictive power in explaining the variation in the log of the rent. 4. 4. Making space for resilient urban well-being

    Author : Karl Samuelsson; Stephan Barthel; S. Anders Brandt; Dagmar Haase; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; subjective well-being; affordances; social-ecological urbanism; urban resilience; geographic information system; depression; densification; complex adaptive system; spatial planning; green-blue infrastructure; subjektivt välbefinnande; affordance; social-ekologisk stadsbyggnad; urban resiliens; geografiska informationssystem; depression; förtätning; komplexa adaptiva system; grön infrastruktur; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the need for urban landscapes that provide resilient contributions to inhabitants’ well-being while also limiting impacts on the Earth system. It aims to (1) advance a nuanced understanding of how urban environments relate to urban dwellers’ well-being, and (2) formulate guidelines for planning that supports urban dwellers’ well-being and align with global sustainability. 5. 5. Aspects of Hadron Production in High-Energy Heavy-Ion Physics

    Author : David Silvermyr; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RHIC; pad readout; electronic; chip-on-board; tracking; heavy-ion collisions; freeze-out temperature; delta resonance; SPS; WA98; PHENIX; Fysik; coherent peripheral; multiplicity; Physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Silvermyr;

    Abstract : High-energy heavy-ion collisions provide a unique tool for the study of nuclear matter as a function of temperature and density. WA98 at the CERN SPS recorded data with a 158 A GeV Pb beam on a Pb target in 1996. To cope with the high charged-particle density, a tracking system based on high granularity multi-step avalanche detectors was developed. READ MORE
