11. Protein Folding Studies on the Ribosomal Protein S6: the Role of Entropy in Nucleation
Abstract : One of the most challenging tasks remaining in the field of biochemistry is the one of understanding how the information within the amino acid sequence of proteins translates into a unique structure. Solving this problem would lead to endless possibilities for application in the medical and biotechnology industry. READ MORE

12. Permutation Patterns, Continued Fractions, and a Group Determined by an Ordered Set
Abstract : We present six articles: In the first and second article we give the first few results on generalized pattern avoidance, focusing on patterns of type (1,2) or (2,1). There are twelve such patterns, and they fall into three classes with respect to being equidistributed. We use 1-23, 1-32, and 2-13 as representatives for these classes. READ MORE

13. Computational Medical Image Analysis : With a Focus on Real-Time fMRI and Non-Parametric Statistics
Abstract : Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a prime example of multi-disciplinary research. Without the beautiful physics of MRI, there wouldnot be any images to look at in the first place. To obtain images of goodquality, it is necessary to fully understand the concepts of the frequencydomain. READ MORE

14. Sequences and games generalizing the combinatorial game of Wythoff Nim
Abstract : One single Queen is placed on an arbitrary starting position of a (large) Chess board. Two players alternate in moving the Queen as in a game of Chess but with the restriction that the $L^1$ distance to the lower left corner, position $(0,0)$, must decrease. The player who moves there wins. Let $\phi =\frac{1+\sqrt{5}}{2}$, the golden ratio. READ MORE

15. Crystallographic studies of transaldolase : implications for the enzymatic mechanism and the evolution of class I aldolases
Abstract : Transaldolase catalyzes the reversible transfer of a dihydroxyacetone moiety from a ketose donor to an aldose acceptor by forming a Schiff-base intermediate between a Iysine residue and dihydroxyacetone. It belongs to the class I aldolase family. READ MORE
