21. Quantitative cardiac 15O-water PET : Assessment of left-ventricular function, remodeling, and impact of patient motion
Abstract : International guidelines advocate the use of noninvasive cardiac imaging as the initial diagnostic test for coronary artery disease, the global leading cause of death according to the world health organization. Within the wide spectrum of cardiac imaging, 15O-water PET is the gold standard for noninvasive quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF). READ MORE

22. Exploring Palladium-Mediated 11C/12C-Carbonylation Reactions : PET Tracer Development Targeting the Vesicular Acetylcholine Transporter
Abstract : The work presented herein describes the utilization and exploration of palladium-mediated incorporations of carbon monoxide and/or [11C]carbon monoxide into compounds and structural motifs with biological relevance. The first part of the thesis describes the design, synthesis and 11C-labeling of prospective PET tracers for the vesicular acetylcholine transporter (VAChT), a target affected in several neurodegenerative diseases. 23. Towards Clinical Implementation of Dynamic Positron Emission Tomography in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are the two most common neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. Positron emission tomography (PET), together with suitable biomarkers, can aid in the clin-ical evaluation as well as in research investigations of these diseases. READ MORE

24. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Molecular Imaging Studies of Pathophysiology
Abstract : The pathological process behind abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation is poorly understood and difficult to study. The aim of the thesis was to study the pathophysiology of AAA formation with positron emission tomography (PET) technology, a molecular imaging technique, allowing in vivo studies of pathophysiological changes. 25. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Abstract : Certain aspects of the use of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) were evaluated in patients with non-Hodgkin'slymphoma (NHL) with the aim of improving the management of these patients.Subjective evaluation of the tumor pattern on CT images, and quantification of tracer uptake using 11C methionine (11C Met) and [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) PET in patients with NHL, were performed to determine their relations to malignancy grade.
