  1. 1. Proteoglycans, group IIA phospholipase A2, and lipoproteins.Potential involvement in atherogenesis

    Author : Peter Sartipy; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; group IIA phospholipase A2; proteoglycans; lipoproteins; inflammation;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial complex disease characterized by a focal accumulation of ApoB-100 containing lipoproteins, extracellular matrix (ECM), and cells in the arterial intima accompanied by an inflammatory reaction. In vivo and in vitro data supports the hypothesis that sulfated extracellular proteoglycans may be responsible for the selective retention of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in the arterial wall. 2. 2. Organs-on-chips for the pharmaceutical development process : design perspectives and implementations

    Author : Jonas Christoffersson; Carl-Fredrik Mandenius; Danny van Noort; Peter Sartipy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Organs-on-chips; cell culture models; pharmaceutical development; microfluidics;

    Abstract : Organs-on-chips are dynamic cell culture devices created with the intention to mimic organ function in vitro. Their purpose is to assess the toxicity and efficacy of drugs and, as early as possible in the pharmaceutical development process, predict the outcome of clinical trials. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transcriptional profiling of human embryonic stem cells and their functional derivatives

    Author : Jane Synnergren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription; differentiation; human embryonic stem cells; gene expression; Naturvetenskap;

    Abstract : Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) represent populations of pluripotent, undifferentiated cells with unlimited replication capacity, and with the ability to differentiate into any functional cell type in the human body. Based on these properties, hESCs and their derivatives provide unique model systems for basic research on embryonic development. READ MORE
