  1. 21. Aspects on the psychopharmacology of cholecystokinin

    Author : Diana Radu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Cholecystokinin; brain; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; CCK receptors; schizophrenia; anxiety; stress; rat; monkey; human; pentagastrin; C-peptide; mRNA;

    Abstract : This thesis includes studies of the effect of mild stress on brain cholecystokinin (CCK), anatomy of markers for CCK-ergic transmission in the brain and the systemic effect of CCK receptor stimulation in a clinical test for anxiety and fear. CCK is a brain-gut peptide acting as a neurotransmitter in mammalian brain via CCKA (CCK1) and CCKB (CCK2) receptors. READ MORE

  2. 22. Cross-functional brain imaging of attention, memory, and executive functions : Unity and diversity of neurocognitive component processes

    Author : Petter Marklund; Lars Nyberg; Akira Miyake; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Human memory; executive functions; prefrontal cortex; sustained and transient neural activity; declarative long-term memory; attention; working memory; functional neuroimaging; cognitive control.; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The central theme of the present thesis revolves around the exploration of similarities and differences in brain activity patterns invoked by the component processes underlying mnemonic, executive and attentional functions. The primary aim was to identify and functionally characterize commonly recruited brain regions in terms of shared component processes, which has been a largely neglected area of research in cognitive neuroscience. 3. 23. Environmental Toxins and Essential Trace Elements at Delivery and ADHD

    Author : Amanda Ode; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PFCs; manganese; selenium; phthalates; ADHD; fetus;

    Abstract : Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), phthalates, manganese and selenium are ubiquitous in the environment and humans and influence fetal growth and development. Register and biobank based case-control studies were conducted to investigate the relationship between prenatal exposure to these chemicals and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in childhood. 4. 24. Evolution of acetylcholine receptors and study of the anatomy of the mouse brain reward system

    Author : Julia Pedersen; Dan Larhammar; Arnaud Chatonnet; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ventral Tegmental Area; Mesocorticolimbic system; Glutamate; Optogenetics; Histology; Acetylcholine; Receptor; Muscarininc; Nicotinic; G protein-coupled receptor; Gene duplication; Tetraploidization; Synteny; Paralogon; Ohnolog; Zebrafish; Spotted gar; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis work is divided in two parts. In the first part, I make use of the transgenic TRPV1-Cre mouse line as a tool to investigate the midbrain ventral tegmental area (VTA). READ MORE

  5. 25. T cell dependent B lymphocyte activation, growth and maturation : the role of lymphokines

    Author : Sven Pettersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TH cell activated B- cell growth maturation B-cell growth factor BSF-pI B-cel1 maturation factor s BMA neonatal B-cell prol iferation anti body secretion;

    Abstract : The present work concerns the regulation of B cell activation, growth and terminal differentiation of helper T cells.T cell dependent (TD) B cell activation requires physical cell to cell contact between competent helper T cells (TH) and B cells and the recognition of MHC Class II antigens.
