  1. 1. Experimental Evaluation of a Microwave Tomography System for Breast Cancer Detection

    Author : Tomas Rydholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tomography; microwave imaging; phantom; breast cancer;

    Abstract : Microwave tomography is a potential candidate for future breast-cancer screening or diagnosis. Contrary to x-rays, microwaves are non-ionizing and therefore not a health risk by their own. The examination procedure would also be more comfortable for the patient compared to conventional mammography since no compression of the breast is needed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Advanced Spectral Analysis with Applications

    Author : Niclas Sandgren; Peter Stoica; Thomas L. Marzetta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frequency-selective spectral analysis; damped sinusoidal model; prior knowledge; multichannel spectroscopy; phantom experimental data; in-vivo in-vitro data analysis; area-selective analysis; cepstrum thresholding; total-variance reduction; two-dimensional spectral estimation; spectral smoothing; irregular sampling; CARMA signals; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Spectral analysis has advanced the last decades as a signal processing tool to extract significant information about certain properties of measured data. The practical use of spectral analysis techniques in time-series analysis has been emphasized in the immense amount of previous literature in the field and by a rapidly growing number of applications. 4. 4. Measurement System for Microwave Imaging Towards a Biomedical Application

    Author : Nikola Petrović; Ekström Mikael; Magnus Otterskog; Christian Pichot; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microwave imaging; antenna applicator; data acquisition; nonlinear inverse scattering; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Microwave imaging techniques have shown excellent capabilities in various fields such as civil engineering, nondestructive testing, industrial applications, and have in recent decades experienced strong growth as a research topic in biomedical diagnostics. Many research groups throughout the world work on prototype systems for producing images of human tissues in different biomedical applications, particularly breast tumor detection. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development of Experimental Brachytherapy Dosimetry Using Monte Carlo Simulations for Detector Characterization

    Author : Vaiva Kaveckyte; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Alexandr Malusek; Hamza Benmakhlouf; Jan Seuntjens; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dosimetry; brachytherapy; solid-state detectors; Monte Carlo;

    Abstract : Brachytherapy (BT) is a type of interventional radiotherapy that is advantageous due to high absorbed dose conformity and possibility to deliver high dose in few fractions. It is often used for prostate and gynecological tumors as monotherapy or a boost alongside external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). READ MORE
