  1. 1. Application of Artificial Gel Antibodies for the Detection and Quantification of Proteins in Biological Fluids

    Author : Nasim Ghasemzadeh; Fred Nyberg; Dom M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : The molecular-imprinting method has previously been used for the synthesis of artificial gel antibodies, highly selective for various proteins. In present study, we have synthesized artificial gel antibodies against haemoglobin, albumin and different forms of growth hormone with the aim to develop a simple and rapid procedure to measure the concentration of these protein biomarkers in samples of clinical interest. 3. 3. Selectivity in NMR and LC-MS Metabolomics : The Importance of Sample Preparation and Separation, and how to Measure Selectivity in LC-MS Metabolomics

    Author : Albert Elmsjö; Curt Pettersson; Torbjörn Arvidsson; Thomas Moritz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolomics; NMR; LC-MS; HILIC; UHPLC; Q-ToF; selectivity; co-feature ratio; method evaluation; data evaluation; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Until now, most metabolomics protocols have been optimized towards high sample throughput and high metabolite coverage, parameters considered to be highly important for identifying influenced biological pathways and to generate as many potential biomarkers as possible. From an analytical point of view this can be troubling, as neither sample throughput nor the number of signals relates to actual quality of the detected signals/metabolites. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and clinical effects of the antimalarial artemisinin : Time-dependencies and modeling aspects

    Author : Ulrika Sigrid Helena Svensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Biopharmaceutics; Biofarmaci;

    Abstract : The mechanism behind artemisinin time-dependent bioavailability was investigated using a rat in-situ single-pass jejunal perfusion technique. The consequence for drug combination therapy was studied in healthy volunteers and in patients with Plasmodium falciparum. READ MORE

  5. 5. Molecular dynamics and aggregation behaviour in aqueous polymer-drug model systems

    Author : Hans Evertsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Pharmaceutical formulations often contain polymers used as binders, swelling agents, etc., to give the formulation mechanical stability or specific drug release features. Many drug substances, as well as polymers, are amphiphilic which will give an associative polymer-drug interaction, affecting the dissolution rate and drug release. READ MORE
