1. Pharmaceutical Nanocomposites : Structure–Mobility–Functionality Relationships in the Amorphous State
Abstract : Amorphous materials are found in pharmaceutical formulations both as excipients and active ingredients. Indeed, these formulations are becoming an essential strategy for incorporating drugs into well-performing solid dosage forms. READ MORE

2. Confidence Predictions in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis has been on Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR) modeling using methods producing valid measures of uncertainty. The goal of QSAR is to prospectively predict the outcome from assays, such as ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion), toxicity and on- and off-target interactions, for novel compounds. 3. Application of Artificial Gel Antibodies for the Detection and Quantification of Proteins in Biological Fluids
Abstract : The molecular-imprinting method has previously been used for the synthesis of artificial gel antibodies, highly selective for various proteins. In present study, we have synthesized artificial gel antibodies against haemoglobin, albumin and different forms of growth hormone with the aim to develop a simple and rapid procedure to measure the concentration of these protein biomarkers in samples of clinical interest. 4. Pharmaceutical cocrystals : formation mechanisms, solubility behaviour and solid-state properties
Abstract : The primary aim of pharmaceutical materials engineering is the successful formulation and process development of pharmaceutical products. The diversity of solid forms available offers attractive opportunities for tailoring material properties. READ MORE

5. Preparation of Pharmaceutical Powders using Supercritical Fluid Technology : Pharmaceutical Applications and Physicochemical Characterisation of Powders
Abstract : The main aim of the thesis was to explore the potential of supercritical fluid (SF) techniques in the field of drug delivery. In particular, the relatively recently developed solution-enhanced dispersion by supercritical fluids (SEDS) technology has been employed in the preparation of particles/powders. READ MORE
