  1. 1. Ternary Block Copolymer Systems - Phase Behaviour and Phase Structure

    University dissertation from Birgitta Svensson, Physical Chemistry 1, Lund University

    Author : Birgitta Svensson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical chemistry; lyotropic; thermotropic; SANS; SAXS; scattering; semicrystalline; reverse micelle; micellar solution; liquid crystalline; phase diagram; phase behaviour; block copolymer; pluronic; poly ethylene oxide ; poly propylene oxide ; quantum chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : Ternary isothermal (25°C) polyoxyalkylene triblock block copolymer ((EO)x(PO)y(EO)x where x is the number of ethylene oxide, EO, segments and y is the number of propylene oxide, PO, segments) systems with water and p-xylene as selective solvents for the PEO and PPO blocks, respectively, were chosen as study systems in this thesis as these ternary systems are good model systems for the self-assembly of block copolymers. The phase behaviour has been studied at varied block copolymer molecular weight and relative PEO/PPO block ratio. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems

    University dissertation from Johan Reimer, Chemical Centre, Lund University

    Author : Johan Reimer; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; micellar network; NMR diffusometry; microemulsion; microstructure; phase diagram; phase separation; phase behaviour; alkyl glucoside; sugar surfactant;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Tensider, eller amfifiler, är molekyler som består av en hydrofil (”vattenälskande”) och en hydrofob (”vattenskyende”) del. Denna dualistiska karaktär ger tensider speciella egenskaper av vilken den viktigaste är att den självaggregerar i en del lösningsmedel, som i de allra flesta tillämpningar är vatten. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Phase Behaviours in Lipid/Polymer/Solvent/Water Systems and their Application for Formation of Lipid/Polymer Composite Particles

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Biodegradable; CLSM; Composite Particles; Controlled Release; Cubic Phases; Drug Delivery; Flory-Huggins Theory; FT-PGSE-NMR; IPMS; Liquid Phase; Lipid Domains; Liquid Handler; Microspheres; Microstructure; Phase Behaviour; Phase Separation; Polymer Matrix; SAXS; Segregation; Sponge Phase; Swelling; Fysikalisk kemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Physical chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Fysikalisk kemi; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry;

    Abstract : A new kind of lipid/polymer composite particle, consisting of a biodegradable polymer matrix with well-defined lipid domains, has been created. The lipid used is the water-swelling lipid monoolein (MO), which forms a reversed bicontinuous cubic diamond structure in aqueous solutions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Protein-Surfactant Interactions Phase Behaviour and Phase Structure

    University dissertation from Physical Chemistry 1, Lund University

    Author : Anna Karin Morén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phase equilibria; Protein-surfactant interactions; Gel; Precipitate; Solution; Lysozyme; b-lactoglobulin; Ovalbumin; Bovine serum albumin; Dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride; Sodium alkylsulphates; NMR; Cryo-TEM; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Protein-surfactant interactions in water are investigated by following the phase equilibria for protein-surfactant pairs whose constituents carry both opposite and the same sign of charge. The concentration ranges studied are: 0-20 wt% protein, 0-20 wt% surfactant, and 80-100 wt% water. READ MORE

    Abstract : The thesis concerns polyelectrolyte gels in contact with oppositely charged proteins and surfactant micelles, and includes of four papers (I-IV). In paper I confocal Raman spectroscopy was introduced as a method to trace micelles and investigate the structure of gel-surfactant complexes, in phase separated gel spheres. READ MORE
