  1. 21. Associative Multicomponent Polymers in Bulk and at Interfaces

    Author : Fredrik Joabsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer adsorption; polymer self-diffusion; polymer-surfactant interactions; phase behaviour; ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose; hydrophobically modified polymers; capillary-induced phase separation; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The solution and interfacial properties of an associative water-soluble cellulose derivative, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC) have been investigated. Main themes have been to study the effect of hydrophobic modification of the polymer (HM-EHEC) and the interactions with surfactants, both in bulk and at interfaces. READ MORE

  2. 22. Tabletting behaviour of aggregates : Mechanistical conception and modulation by variations in aggregate physical properties

    Author : Barbro Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Abstract : The volume reduction mechanisms involved during compression of aggregates prepared from microcrystalline cellulose particles and effects of variations in their physical properties on their compression behaviour and compactability were studied in this thesis.The dominating volume reduction mechanisms during compression of aggregates prepared of MCC were deformation (bulk deformation and local deformation) parallel with densification, and generally the degree of fragmentation of the aggregates was minute. 3. 23. Modelling phase separation in Fe-Cr alloys : A continuum approach

    Author : Thomas Barkar; John Ågren; Nele Moelans; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase separation; spinodal decomposition; nucleation; diffusion; thermodynamics; kinetics; steel; ferritic;

    Abstract : The formation of Cr-rich and Fe-rich domains upon ageing of an initially homogeneous Fe-Cr alloy at elevated temperatures (300-600 ºC) is commonly referred to as phase separation. The behaviour originates from a miscibility gap in the Fe-Cr phase diagram. READ MORE

  4. 24. Synchrotron radiation studies of gas phase molecules : from hydrogen to DNA sugars

    Author : Gemma Vall-llosera; Elisabeth Rachlew; Stacey Sorensen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTH thesis; synchrotron radiation; gas phase; bio molecules; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises experimental results on the molecular spectroscopy of gas phase molecules excited by synchrotron radiation in the VUV and soft X-ray regions. We have used three different detection techniques, photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy, photoionisation mass spectroscopy and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy to study molecular deuterium, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, methanol, pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, s-triazine, and 2-deoxy-D-ribose, the last one also known as the DNA sugar. 5. 25. Storage Stability and Phase Separation Behaviour of Polymer-Modified Bitumen : Characterization and Modelling

    Author : Jiqing Zhu; Niki Kringos; Dallas Little; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer-modified bitumen; Storage stability; Phase separation; Fluorescence microscopy; Phase-field modelling; Polymermodifierad bitumen; Lagringsstabilitet; Fasseparation; Fluorescensmikroskopi; Fas-fälts modellering; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) is a high-performance material for road construction and maintenance. But its storage stability and phase separation behaviour are still not sufficiently understood and need to be studied toward a more successful and sustainable application of PMB. READ MORE
