  1. 16. Deposition and Phase Transformations of Ternary Al-Cr-O Thin Films

    Author : Ali Khatibi; Lars Hultman; Per Eklund; Jon Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thin Films; Hard Coatings; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the ternary Al-Cr-O system. (Al1-xCrx)2O3 solid solution thin films with 0.62 gas mixture. As-deposited and annealed (Al1-xCrx)2O3 thin films were analyzed by x-ray diffraction, elastic recoil detection analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and nanoindentation. 3. 18. Intermodulation in microresonators : for microwave amplification and nanoscale surface analysis

    Author : Erik Tholén; David Haviland; Eyal Buks; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Atomic Force Microscopy; Nonlinear oscillators; Parametric amplification; Mesoscopic physics; Mesoskopisk fysik;

    Abstract : This work explores the effects of weak nonlinearity on harmonic oscillators.Two particular systems are studied experimentally: A superconductingresonator formed from a coplanar waveguide that oscillates at microwave frequencies,and the cantilever of an atomic force microscope (AFM) vibratingat ultrasonic frequencies. 4. 19. Thermally Induced Fracture Performance of Asphalt Mixtures

    Author : Prabir Kumar Das; Björn Birgisson; Dallas Little; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low temperature cracking; asphalt concrete fracture mechanics; viscoelasticity; non-linear thermal contraction coefficient; atomic force microscopy; wax; wax crystallization; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport;

    Abstract : A major distress mode in asphalt pavements is low temperature cracking, which results from the contraction and expansion of the asphalt pavement under extreme temperature changes. The potential for low temperature cracking is an interplay between the environment, the road structure and importantly the properties of the asphalt mixture. READ MORE

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the interactions between talc mineral and surfaces, liquids and chemicals relevant for industrial applications, such as pulp and paper. Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. READ MORE
