1. Phase dependent heat transport in superconducting junctions with scattering theory
Abstract : The operation of nanoscale devices at low temperatures is highly sensitive to heating effects. This motivates current research on controlling heat currents in these devices. READ MORE

2. Heat control in mesoscopic conductors - exploiting quantum effects and size confinement
Abstract : This thesis deals with a theoretical analysis of heat currents, their exploitation and their control in nanoscale devices. The motivation for this study is twofold. (i) The development of nanoscale devices sets up the basis of many applications ranging from nanoelectronics to quantum technology. READ MORE

3. Dynamics of Magnetic Molecules under Electrical Control
Abstract : This thesis theoretically studies the dynamics of molecular magnets under electrical control. Molecular magnets are nanoscale magnets that can, e.g., consist of single-molecules or single-atoms. READ MORE

4. Ionic transport of α-alumina below 1000°C : an in-situ impedance spectrosocpy study
Abstract : Ionic conductivity of metal oxides is critical for the function of a broad range of different components, such as electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells and alloys designed for high temperature applications. In both cases the ionic conductivity can be studied by in situ impedance spectroscopy, which is also able to reveal information on the dielectric properties of the metal oxides, and in some cases the influence of their microstructure.
