  1. 1. Radome Diagnostics: utilizing Source Reconstruction based on Surface Integral Representations

    Author : Kristin Persson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nondestructive testing; source reconstruction; diagnostics; radome; phase reconstruction; insertion phase delay IPD ; equivalent surface currents;

    Abstract : In this thesis, an inverse source reconstruction method with great potential in radome diagnostics is presented. A radome is a cover that encloses an antenna in order to protect it from environmental influences. READ MORE

  2. 2. High-resolution biomedical phase-contrast tomography

    Author : William Twengström; Hans Hertz; Anna Burvall; Marco Stampanoni; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; x-ray; x-ray imaging; biomedical; phase contrast; tomography; zebrafish; coronary artery; virtual histology; ring artifacts; phase retrieval; mummy; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Improved three-dimensional biomedical imaging can give a better understanding of tissue structure, growth and diseases. Most present imaging techniques that provide cellular spatial resolution are based on visible or infrared light. These methods cannot image deeper than a millimeter into tissue. READ MORE

  3. 3. The art of transcriptome reconstruction : with applications in Picea abies (L.) H. Karst

    Author : Karl Johan Westrin; Olof Emanuelsson; Henric Zazzi; Lukas Käll; Jens Sundström; Jarkko Salojärvi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcriptome reconstruction; transcriptome assembly; transcript isoform detection; Picea abies; acrocona; cone setting; differential expression; gene families; miRNA; quality assessment; transkriptomrekonstruktion; sammansättning av transkriptom; detektering av transkriptisoform; rödgran; kottegran; kottsättning; differentiellt uttryck; genfamiljer; kvalitetsutvärdering; miRNA; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. When a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, a de novo transcriptome assembly is the transcriptome reconstruction approach of choice, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily give all theinformation concerning splice junctions, isoforms or even the full extent of the gene. Abstract : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level. 5. 5. 3D nano-tomography using coherent X-rays

    Author : Maik Kahnt; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ptychography; Tomography; Phase reconstruction; X-ray microscopy;

    Abstract : X-rays allow to non-destructively investigate biological, chemical or physical processes at the nano-scale. Their high penetration depth in matter allows to investigate samples even inside sample environments, which would be difficult with complementary methods such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
