  1. 1. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems

    Author : Johan Reimer; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; micellar network; NMR diffusometry; microemulsion; microstructure; phase diagram; phase separation; phase behaviour; alkyl glucoside; sugar surfactant;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to study phase diagrams, microstructure and phase separation in alkylglucoside systems. Both alkyl glucoside/water systems and microemulsions with alkyl glucosides have been studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Transitions in Large Oscillator Lattices

    Author : Per Östborn; Antikens kultur och samhällsliv; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; phase transition; limit cycle oscillator; frequency entrainment; synchronization; sinus node; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; arrhythmia; gravitation; quantum mechanics; relativity; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Östborn;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with large networks of limit cycle oscillators. A limit cycle oscillator is a dynamical system that has a periodic attractor in phase space, and is defined in continuous time. To each such oscillator one can associate a natural frequency. READ MORE

  3. 3. Protein-Surfactant Interactions Phase Behaviour and Phase Structure

    Author : Anna Karin Morén; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phase equilibria; Protein-surfactant interactions; Gel; Precipitate; Solution; Lysozyme; b-lactoglobulin; Ovalbumin; Bovine serum albumin; Dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride; Sodium alkylsulphates; NMR; Cryo-TEM; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Protein-surfactant interactions in water are investigated by following the phase equilibria for protein-surfactant pairs whose constituents carry both opposite and the same sign of charge. The concentration ranges studied are: 0-20 wt% protein, 0-20 wt% surfactant, and 80-100 wt% water. READ MORE

  4. 4. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field

    Author : Kateryna Medvedyeva; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; superconductor; two dimensions; phase transition; vortex; currentvoltage characteristics; complex conductivity; scaling; critical exponents; XY-type models; dynamics; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phase Noise Tolerant Modulation Formats and DSP Algorithms for Coherent Optical Systems

    Author : Jaime Rodrigo Navarro; Sergei Popov; Gunnar Jacobsen; Richard Schatz; Xiaodan Pang; Oskars Ozolins; Gabriella Bosco; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical communications; carrier phase recovery; blind phase search; circular quadrature amplitude modulation; CmQAM; coherent optical communications; digital signal processing; carrier phase estimation; equalization enhanced phase noise; EEPN; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : Coherent detection together with multilevel modulation formats has the potential to significantly increase the capacity of existing optical communication systems at no extra cost in signal bandwidth. However, these modulation formats are more susceptible to the impact of different noise sources and distortions as the distance between its constellation points in the complex plane reduces with the modulation index.
