  1. 21. Managing Effects of Manufacturing Variation in Dental Medical Device Treatments - Increasing Geometrical Robustness

    Author : Timo Kero; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mass customization and dentistry.; medical devices; virtual verification; Robust design; variation simulation; tolerance analysis;

    Abstract : Today, there are many solutions for dental rehabilitation. A damaged tooth can be replaced with a dental crown, and a toothless patient can be rehabilitated with implants and a corresponding bridge set-up. Traditionally, a dental crown is manufactured by veneering porcelain to a metal surface that is obtained through the use of casting principles. READ MORE

  2. 22. The alternate-phase return-to-zero modulation format in high-speed optical-fibre communications

    Author : Marco Forzati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-speed optical transmission; return-to-zero; nonlinear optics; dispersion management; phase modulation; modulation formats; Fibre optics communication; fibres;

    Abstract : Increasing the channel bit rate is an efficient way to upgrade traffic capacity in installed transmission links. At bit rates of the order of 40 Gb/s, on-off keying transmission becomes severely impaired by non-linear effects,particularly Intra-channel Cross-Phase Modulation (IXPM) and Intra-channel Four-Wave Mixing (IFWM), which cause pulses in different bit slots to interact with each-other. 3. 23. Spectral modeling of nebular-phase supernovae

    Author : Anders Jerkstrand; Claes Fransson; Luc Dessart; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; supernovae; nucleosynthesis; radiative transfer; massive stars; 1987A; IIP; supernovor; nukleosyntes; spektralmodellering; strålningstransport; massiva stjärnor; 1987A; IIP; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : Massive stars live fast and die young. They shine furiously for a few million years, during which time they synthesize most of the heavy elements in the universe in their cores. They end by blowing themselves up in a powerful explosion known as a supernova (SN). READ MORE

  4. 24. Modeling and Optimization of Reversed-Phase Chromatography : Effects of Modulators and Temperature

    Author : Karolina Arkell; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reversed-phase chromatography; Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; Mechanistic modeling; INSULIN; KCl; Ethanol; Temperature; Multi-objective optimization; Constraint; Solubility;

    Abstract : Many widespread diseases, such as diabetes, various types of cancer, and aggressive versions of influenza, are treated or prevented with biopharmaceuticals. Biopharmaceuticals are drugs that are based on proteins, peptides, antibodies, attenuated viruses (vaccines), and other biomolecules that are synthesized predominately in bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cells. 5. 25. Visualising the Effect of Geometrical Variation in Assembled Products. Predicting Visual Quality Appearance

    Author : Casper Wickman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tolerancing; visual quality appearance; distance perception; empirical studies; method development; visual sensitivity; and geometric variation; virtual reality;

    Abstract : Today, when an industrial design concept is evaluated in an aesthetic manner, little or no consideration is given to geometrical variation, i.e. the concept is evaluated with nominal geometry. READ MORE
