  1. 1. Time-resolved X-ray diffraction studies of phonons and phase transitions

    Author : Ola Synnergren; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics; Phase transitions; X-ray diffraction; Phonons; X-ray diffraction; phonons; phase transitions;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes work in which time-resolved X-ray diffraction has been used to probe crystalline materials, thereby revealing the dynamics of phonons and phase transitions. X-ray diffraction is the standard tool in investigations of structure on the atomic scale. READ MORE

  2. 2. Raman scattering investigations of phonons in ceramic high-T superconductors

    Author : Mikael Käll; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : charge distribution; Raman spectroscopy; high-Tc superconductors; ceramics; phonons; atomic substitution;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. Significance of grain boundaries for transport phenomena in graphene and proton-conducting barium zirconate

    Author : Edit Ahlberg Helgee; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphene; density functional theory; phonons; proton conduction; grain boundaries; BaZrO3; interatomic model potentials;

    Abstract : Grain boundaries can have a significant influence on the properties of polycrystalline materials. When determining the type and extent of this influence it is frequently useful to employ computational methods such as density functional theory and molecular dynamics, which can provide models of the grain boundary structure at the atomistic level. 4. 4. Raman Scattering Studies of High-Tc Superconductors

    Author : Mikael Käll; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : superconducting gap; phonons; Raman scattering; high-Tc superconductivity;

    Abstract : This thesis describes Raman scattering investigations of cuprate high-Tc superconductors. The objective is to gain further knowledge on the physical properties that are relevant for the appearance of high-Tc superconductivity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction of nanostructured samples

    Author : A. I. H. Persson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray diffraction; phonons; optoacoustic transducer; electron diffusion; nanowires; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Persson;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on time-resolved x-ray diffraction studies of InSb (111) samples. The experiments were carried out using a pump-probe configuration using short laser pulses as the pump and x-rays as the probe. Laser excitation leads to the formation of a strain pulse that propagates through the sample. READ MORE
